Gauree, Fifth Mehla, Maajh:
ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
dhukh bha(n)jan teraa naam jee dhukh bha(n)jan teraa naam ||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
The Destroyer of sorrow is Your Name, Lord; the Destroyer of sorrow is Your Name.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ—ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Twenty-four hours a day, dwell upon the wisdom of the Perfect True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਥਾਉ ॥
jit ghaT vasai paarabraham soiee suhaavaa thaau ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਥਾਂ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
That heart, in which the Supreme Lord God abides, is the most beautiful place.
ਜਮ ਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥
jam ka(n)kar neR na aaviee rasanaa har gun gaau ||1||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਮਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁੱਕਦਾ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।੧।
The Messenger of Death does not even approach those who chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord with the tongue. ||1||
ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਆ ਨਾ ਜਾਪੈ ਆਰਾਧਿ ॥
sevaa surat na jaaneeaa naa jaapai aaraadh ||
ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ (ਹੁਣ ਤਕ) ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਣੀ,
I have not understood the wisdom of serving Him, nor have I worshipped Him in meditation.
ਓਟ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ॥੨॥
oT teree jagajeevanaa mere Thaakur agam agaadh ||2||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਝਿਆ, (ਪਰ ਹੁਣ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।੨।
You are my Support, O Life of the World; O my Lord and Master, Inaccessible and Incomprehensible. ||2||
ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈਆ ਨਠੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
bhe kirapaal gusaieeaa naThe sog sa(n)taap ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਤੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
When the Lord of the Universe became merciful, sorrow and suffering departed.
ਤਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਖੇ ਆਪਿ ॥੩॥
tatee vaau na lagiee satigur rakhe aap ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸੋਗ-ਸੰਤਾਪ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ) ਸੇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦਾ ।੩।
The hot winds do not even touch those who are protected by the True Guru. ||3||
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਦਯੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
gur naarain dhay gur gur sachaa sirajanahaar ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ
The Guru is the All-pervading Lord, the Guru is the Merciful Master; the Guru is the True Creator Lord.
ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੭੦॥
gur tuThai sabh kichh paiaa jan naanak sadh balihaar ||4||2||170||
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ।੪।੨।੧੭੦।
When the Guru was totally satisfied, I obtained everything. Servant Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||4||2||170||
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।
Gauree, Fifth Mehla:
ਸੂਕੇ ਹਰੇ ਕੀਏ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹੇ ॥
sooke hare ke'ee khin maahe ||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਤੋਂ ਸੁੰਞੇ ਹੋ ਚੱੁਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
The dried branches are made green again in an instant.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸੰਚਿ ਜੀਵਾਏ ॥੧॥
a(n)mirat dhirasaT sa(n)ch jeevaae ||1||
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਸਿੰਜ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ,
His Ambrosial Glance irrigates and revives them. ||1||
ਕਾਟੇ ਕਸਟ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
kaaTe kasaT poore gurdhev ||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Perfect Divine Guru has removed my sorrow.
ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਦੀਨੀ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sevak kau dheenee apunee sev ||1|| rahaau ||
ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ (ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦਿੱਤੀ,
He blesses His servant with His service. ||1||Pause||
ਮਿਟਿ ਗਈ ਚਿੰਤ ਪੁਨੀ ਮਨ ਆਸਾ ॥
miT giee chi(n)t punee man aasaa ||
ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ) ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ।੨।
Anxiety is removed, and the desires of the mind are fulfilled,
ਕਰੀ ਦਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਾ ॥੨॥
karee dhiaa satigur gunataasaa ||2||
ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ,
when the True Guru, the Treasure of Excellence, shows His Kindness. ||2||
ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਇ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
dhukh naaThe sukh aai samaae ||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਸੁਖ ਆ ਕੇ ਟਿਕ ਗਏ ।੩।
Pain is driven far away, and peace comes in its place;
ਢੀਲ ਨ ਪਰੀ ਜਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਏ ॥੩॥
ddeel na paree jaa gur furamaae ||3||
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਕੀਤਾ, ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਢਿੱਲ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਈ,
there is no delay, when the Guru gives the Order. ||3||
ਇਛ ਪੁਨੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ॥
eichh punee poore gur mile ||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ) ਇੱਛਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ,
Desires are fulfilled, when one meets the True Guru;
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਸੁਫਲ ਫਲੇ ॥੪॥੫੮॥੧੨੭॥
naanak te jan sufal fale ||4||58||127||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਫਲ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ ।੪।੫੮।੧੨੭।
O Nanak, His humble servant is fruitful and prosperous. ||4||58||127||

ਤਾਪ ਗਏ ਪਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥
taap ge paiee prabh saa(n)t ||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਠੰਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
The fever has departed; God has showered us with peace and tranquility.
ਸੀਤਲ ਭਏ ਕੀਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੧॥
seetal bhe keenee prabh dhaat ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਐਸੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਢ ਵਰਤਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਤਾਪ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
A cooling peace prevails; God has granted this gift. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥
prabh kirapaa te bhe suhele ||
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੌਖੇ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
By God's Grace, we have become comfortable.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਬਿਛੁਰੇ ਮੇਲੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam janam ke bichhure mele ||1|| rahaau ||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਛੁੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Separated from Him for countless incarnations, we are now reunited with Him. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
simarat simarat prabh kaa naau ||
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on God's Name,
ਸਗਲ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਥਾਉ ॥੨॥
sagal rog kaa binasiaa thaau ||2||
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੀ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
the dwelling of all disease is destroyed. ||2||
ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਬੋਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
sahaj subhai bolai har baanee ||
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
In intuitive peace and poise, chant the Word of the Lord's Bani.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
aaTh pahar prabh simarahu praanee ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ! (ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਮੰਗ, ਤੇ) ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ ।੩।
Twenty-four hours a day, O mortal, meditate on God. ||3||
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਜਮੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
dhookh dharadh jam neR na aavai ||
ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ-ਦਰਦ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਂਹਦਾ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ) ।੪।੫੯।੧੨੮।
Pain, suffering and the Messenger of Death do not even approach that one,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੫੯॥੧੨੮॥
kahu naanak jo har gun gaavai ||4||59||128||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਆਖ—(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
says Nanak, who sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||59||128||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੂਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
jis simarat dhookh sabh jai ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਪ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Remembering Him in meditation, all pains are gone.
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
naam ratan vasai man aai ||1||
(ਤੇ, ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
The jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to dwell in the mind. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
jap man mere govi(n)dh kee baanee ||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਉੱਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ ।
O my mind, chant the Bani, the Hymns of the Lord of the Universe.
ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਸਨ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saadhoo jan raam rasan vakhaanee ||1|| rahaau ||

ਇਕਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਇ ॥
eikas bin naahee dhoojaa koi ||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।੨।
Without the One Lord, there is no other at all.
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
jaa kee dhirasaT sadhaa sukh hoi ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ) ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
By His Glance of Grace, eternal peace is obtained. ||2||
ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਖਾ ਕਰਿ ਏਕੁ ॥
saajan meet sakhaa kar ek ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਉਸ) ਇੱਕ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੱਜਣ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣਾ
Make the One Lord your friend, intimate and companion.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਖਰ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਖੁ ॥੩॥
har har akhar man meh lekh ||3||
ਤੇ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਖਰ (ਸੰਸਕਾਰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਕਰ ਲੈ ।੩।
Write in your mind the Word of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
rav rahiaa sarabat suaamee ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਉਹ) ਮਾਲਕ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Lord Master is totally pervading everywhere.
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੬੨॥੧੩੧॥

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ
Millions of obstacles are removed in an instant,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਨਾਹਿ ॥੧॥

ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
for those who listen to the Sermon of the Lord, Har, Har, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||
ਪੀਵਤ ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਸੁ ॥
peevat raam ras a(n)mirat gun jaas ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦਿਆਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ,
They drink in the sublime essence of the Lord's Name, the Ambrosial Elixir.
ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਮਿਟੀ ਖੁਧਿ ਤਾਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jap har charan miTee khudh taas ||1|| rahaau ||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Meditating on the Lord's Feet, hunger is taken away. ||1||Pause||
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
sarab kaliaan sukh sahaj nidhaan ||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
The treasure of all happiness, celestial peace and poise,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਹਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੨॥
jaa kai ridhai vaseh bhagavaan ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।੨।
are obtained by those, whose hearts are filled with the Lord God. ||2||
ਅਉਖਧ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਤੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
aaukhadh ma(n)tr ta(n)t sabh chhaar ||
(ਇਸ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦਾਰੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੰਤਰ ਤੇ ਟੂਣੇ ਤੁੱਛ ਹਨ
All medicines and remedies, mantras and tantras are nothing more than ashes.
ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਰਿਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਧਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
karanaihaar ridhe meh dhaar ||3||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ ।੩।
Enshrine the Creator Lord within your heart. ||3||
ਤਜਿ ਸਭਿ ਭਰਮ ਭਜਿਓ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥
taj sabh bharam bhajio paarabraham ||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਰਮ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ
Renounce all your doubts, and vibrate upon the Supreme Lord God.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਟਲ ਇਹੁ ਧਰਮੁ ॥੪॥੮੦॥੧੪੯॥
kahu naanak aTal ih dharam ||4||80||149||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਆਖ— (ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਜਨ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਧਰਮ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਫਲ ਦੇਣੋਂ ਉਕਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ।੪।੮੦।੧੪੯।
Says Nanak, this path of Dharma is eternal and unchanging. ||4||80||149||

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਗਈ,
Peace and tranquility have come; the Guru, the Lord of the Universe, has brought it.
ਤਾਪ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taap paap binase mere bhaiee ||1|| rahaau ||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The burning sins have departed, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਰਸਨ ਬਖਾਨ ॥

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
With your tongue, continually chant the Lord's Name.
ਬਿਨਸੇ ਰੋਗ ਭਏ ਕਲਿਆਨ ॥੧॥
binase rog bhe kaliaan ||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
Disease shall depart, and you shall be saved. ||1||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਣ ਅਗਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
paarabraham gun agam beechaar ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Contemplate the Glorious Virtues of the Unfathomable Supreme Lord God.
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਮਿ ਹੈ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥੨॥
saadhoo sa(n)gam hai nisataar ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall be emancipated. ||2||
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤ ॥
niramal gun gaavahu nit neet ||
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਿੱਤਰ ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ ।
Sing the Glories of God each and every day;
ਗਈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਨ ਮੀਤ ॥੩॥
giee biaadh ubare jan meet ||3||
(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਰੋਗਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੩।
your afflictions shall be dispelled, and you shall be saved, my humble friend. ||3||
ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
man bach karam prabh apanaa dhiaaiee ||
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ
In thought, word and deed, I meditate on my God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦੨॥੧੭੧॥
naanak dhaas teree saranaiee ||4||102||171||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ !) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ) ।੪।੧੦੨।੧੭੧।

ਹੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ (ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ,
The Divine Guru has opened his eyes.
ਭਰਮ ਗਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਈ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bharam ge pooran bhiee sev ||1|| rahaau ||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਹਮ (ਥਾਂ ਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਟਕਣ) ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Doubt has been dispelled; my service has been successful. ||1||Pause||
ਸੀਤਲਾ ਤੇ ਰਖਿਆ ਬਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
seetalaa te rakhiaa bihaaree ||
ਹੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਰੂਪ ! ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸੀਤਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਹੈ
The Giver of joy has saved him from smallpox.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
paarabraham prabh kirapaa dhaaree ||1||
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ
The Supreme Lord God has granted His Grace. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਸੋ ਜੀਵੈ ॥
naanak naam japai so jeevai ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ,
O Nanak, he alone lives, who chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ॥੨॥੧੦੩॥੧੭੨॥
saadhasa(n)g har a(n)mrit peevai ||2||103||172||
ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧੦੩।੧੭੨।
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, drink deeply of the Lord's Ambrosial Nectar. ||2||103||172||

ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨੋ! ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਬਣਾਓ
Remain steady in the home of your own self, O beloved servant of the Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur tumare kaaj savaare ||1|| rahaau ||
ਕਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਵਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The True Guru shall resolve all your affairs. ||1||Pause||
ਦੁਸਟ ਦੂਤ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
dhusaT dhoot paramesar maare ||
(ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਧਾਰੋ ਕਿ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੋਖੀ ਵੈਰੀ ਸਭ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ
The Transcendent Lord has struck down the wicked and the evil.
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੀ ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
jan kee paij rakhee karataare ||1||
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
The Creator has preserved the honor of His servant. ||1||
ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ ਸਾਹ ਸਭ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੇ ॥
baadhisaeh saeh sabh vas kar dheene ||
(ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਮੁਥਾਜ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ
The kings and emperors are all under his power;
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮ ਮਹਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਨੇ ॥੨॥
a(n)mirat naam mahaa ras peene ||2||
ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਰਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।
he drinks deeply of the most sublime essence of the Ambrosial Naam. ||2||
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਇ ਭਜਹੁ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥
nirabhau hoi bhajahu bhagavaan ||
(ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭਗਤ-ਜਨੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉਤੇ) ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ
Meditate fearlessly on the Lord God.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
saadhasa(n)gat mil keeno dhaan ||3||
ਤੁਸੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ ।੩।
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, this gift is given. ||3||
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ,
Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of God, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts;
ਨਾਨਕ ਓਟ ਪਕਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੪॥੧੦੮॥
naanak oT pakaree prabh suaamee ||4||108||
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼) ।੪।੧੦੮।

ਰਾਖੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ॥

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ।
Save me, O My Father God.
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਸਭ ਗੁਨ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ (ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੇਂ, ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ । ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਤੇ ਅਉਗਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I am worthless and without virtue; all virtues are Yours. ||1||Pause||
ਪੰਚ ਬਿਖਾਦੀ ਏਕੁ ਗਰੀਬਾ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
pa(n)ch bikhaadhee ek gareebaa raakhahu raakhanahaare ||
ਹੇ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਗਰੀਬ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਕਾਮ ਆਦਿਕ ਪੰਜ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰ,
The five vicious thieves are assaulting my poor being; save me, O Savior Lord!
ਖੇਦੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਰੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਸੰਤਾਵਹਿ ਆਇਓ ਸਰਨਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
khedh kareh ar bahut sa(n)taaveh aaio saran tuhaare ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ । ਇਹ ਪੰਜੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਤਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
They are tormenting and torturing me. I have come, seeking Your Sanctuary. ||1||
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਰਿਓ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤੀ ਛੋਡਹਿ ਕਤਹੂੰ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
kar kar haario anik bahu bhaatee chhoddeh katahoo(n) naahee ||
(ਹੇ ਪਿਤਾ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਬਿਖਾਦੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਮੈਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਤਨ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਇਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ।
Trying all sorts of things, I have grown weary, but still, they will not leave me alone.
ਏਕ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਿ ਤਾਕੀ ਓਟਾ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
ek baat sun taakee oTaa saadhasa(n)g miT jaahee ||2||
ਇਕ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।੨।
But I have heard that they can be rooted out, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; and so I seek their Shelter. ||2||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਤੇ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirapaa sa(n)t mile moh tin te dheeraj paiaa ||
(ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।
In their Mercy, the Saints have met me, and from them, I have obtained satisfaction.
ਸੰਤੀ ਮੰਤੁ ਦੀਓ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
sa(n)tee ma(n)t dheeo moh nirabhau gur kaa sabadh kamaiaa ||3||
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਬਿਖਾਦੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ) ਨਿਡਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ ।੩।
The Saints have given me the Mantra of the Fearless Lord, and now I practice the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||3||
ਜੀਤਿ ਲਏ ਓਇ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਾਦੀ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
jeet le oi mahaa bikhaadhee sahaj suhelee baanee ||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ, ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਪੰਜੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਝਗੜਾਲੂ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਏ ਹਨ ।
I have now conquered those terrible evil-doers, and my speech is now sweet and sublime.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਭਇਆ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੨੫॥
kahu naanak man bhiaa paragaasaa paiaa padh nirabaanee ||4||4||125||
। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਹੁਣ) ਆਖ—ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦੀ ।੪।੪।੧੨੫।
Says Nanak, the Divine Light has dawned within my mind; I have obtained the state of Nirvaanaa. ||4||4||125||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bilaaval mahalaa panjavaa ||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਕੀਏ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
sarab kaliaan ke'ee gurdhev ||
ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Divine Guru has blessed me with total happiness.
ਸੇਵਕੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਲਾਇਓ ਸੇਵ ॥
sevak apanee laio sev ||
ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
He has linked His servant to His service.
ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਪਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵ ॥੧॥
bighan na laagai jap alakh abhev ||1||
ਅਲੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਅਭੇਵ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ।੧।
No obstacles block my path, meditating on the incomprehensible, inscrutable Lord. ||1||
ਧਰਤਿ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਭਈ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥
dharat puneet bhiee gun gaae ||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The soil has been sanctified, singing the Glories of His Praises.
ਦੁਰਤੁ ਗਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhurat giaa har naam dhiaae ||1|| rahaau ||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The sins are eradicated, meditating on the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਂਈ ਰਵਿਆ ਆਪਿ ॥
sabhanee thaa(n)iee raviaa aap ||
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He Himself is pervading everywhere;
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਵਡ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥
aadh jugaadh jaa kaa vadd parataap ||
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ-ਪਰਤਾਪ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਬੜਾ ਚਲਿਆ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।
from the very beginning, and throughout the ages, His Glory has been radiantly manifest.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥੨॥
gur parasaadh na hoi sa(n)taap ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।੨।
By Guru's Grace, sorrow does not touch me. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਲਗੇ ਮਨਿ ਮੀਠੇ ॥
gur ke charan lage man meeThe ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ (ਸੋਹਣੇ) ਚਰਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ,
The Guru's Feet seem so sweet to my mind.
ਨਿਰਬਿਘਨ ਹੋਇ ਸਭ ਥਾਂਈ ਵੂਠੇ ॥
nirabighan hoi sabh thaa(n)iee vooThe ||
ਉਹ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਭੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He is unobstructed, dwelling everywhere.
ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੂਠੇ ॥੩॥
sabh sukh paae satigur tooThe ||3||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
I found total peace, when the Guru was pleased. ||3||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ॥
paarabraham prabh bhe rakhavaale ||
ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ,
The Supreme Lord God has become my Savior.
ਜਿਥੈ ਕਿਥੈ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
jithai kithai dheeseh naale ||
ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Wherever I look, I see Him there with me.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਖਸਮਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak dhaas khasam pratipaale ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜੀ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੇ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ ।
O Nanak, the Lord and Master protects and cherishes His slaves. ||4||2||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bilaaval mahalaa panjavaa ||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
charan kamal prabh hiradhai dhiaae ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
Within my heart, I meditate on the Lotus Feet of God.
ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
rog ge sagale sukh paae ||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਏ ।੧।
Disease is gone, and I have found total peace. ||1||
ਗੁਰਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਦੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
gur dhukh kaaTiaa dheeno dhaan ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।
The Guru relieved my sufferings, and blessed me with the gift.
ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
safal janam jeevan paravaan ||1|| rahaau ||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਗਈ, (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
My birth has been rendered fruitful, and my life is approved. ||1||Pause||
ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
akath kathaa a(n)mirat prabh baanee ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ।
The Ambrosial Bani of God's Word is the Unspoken Speech.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੦॥
kahu naanak jap jeeve giaanee ||2||2||20||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੨।੨੦।
Says Nanak, the spiritually wise live by meditating on God. ||2||2||20||

ਸਾਂਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
saa(n)t paiee gur satigur poore ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਠੰਡ ਵਰਤਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
The Guru, the Perfect True Guru, has blessed me with peace and tranquility.
ਸੁਖ ਉਪਜੇ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sukh upaje baaje anahadh toore ||1|| rahaau ||

Peace and joy have welled up, and the mystical trumpets of the unstruck sound current vibrate. ||1||Pause||
ਤਾਪ ਪਾਪ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ॥

(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ।
Sufferings, sins and afflictions have been dispelled.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਨਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
har simarat kilavikh sabh naase ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ।੧।
Remembering the Lord in meditation, all sinful mistakes have been erased. ||1||
ਅਨਦੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥

(ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸੋਹਣੇ (ਬਣ ਚੁਕੇ) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਓ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੁਣ ਰਲ ਕੇ (ਸਤਸੰਗ ਮਨਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰੋ ।
Joining together, O beautiful soul-brides, celebrate and make merry.

ਸਗਲ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਕੀਆ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਅਪਣਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸਮੑਾਰਿਆ ॥
sagal ana(n)dh keeaa paramesar apanaa biradh sam(h)aariaa ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨ ਜਾਣੋ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ (ਭਗਤਿ-ਵਛਲ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ) ਸੁਭਾਉ ਸਦਾ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Transcendent Lord has brought bliss to all; He has confirmed His Natural Way.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਬਿਗਸੇ ਸਭਿ ਪਰਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
saadh janaa hoe kirapaalaa bigase sabh paravaariaa ||1||
ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ-ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ (ਸਾਰੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਭੀ) ਆਨੰਦ-ਭਰਪੂਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
He has become Merciful to the humble, holy Saints, and all my relatives blossom forth in joy. ||1||
ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਲੋਕ ਤਾਂ ਦੇਵੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ । ਪਰ ਵੇਖੋ, ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਚੀਚਕ ਦੇ ਤਾਪ ਤੋਂ ਅਰੋਗਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਹ ਵੱਡਾ) ਕੰਮ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।
The True Guru Himself has resolved my affairs.
ਵਡੀ ਆਰਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਸੂਖ ਮੰਗਲ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vaddee aarajaa har gobi(n)dh kee sookh ma(n)gal kaliaan beechaariaa ||1|| rahaau ||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਲੰਮੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਖ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
He has blessed Hargobind with long life, and taken care of my comfort, happiness and well-being. ||1||Pause||
ਵਣ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੀਅ ਸਾਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
van tiran tirabhavan hariaa hoe sagale jeea saadhaariaa ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ, ਤਿੰਨੇ ਹੀ ਭਵਨ ਹਰੇ-ਭਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The forests, meadows and the three worlds have blossomed forth in greenery; He gives His Support to all beings.
ਮਨ ਇਛੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥੫॥੨੩॥

(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਹ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਾਮਨਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਬੱਸ! ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਕਰੋ) ।੨।੫।੨੩।
Nanak has obtained the fruits of his mind's desires; his desires are totally fulfilled. ||2||5||23||

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।
The disease is gone; God Himself took it away.
ਨੀਦ ਪਈ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਘਰੁ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

(ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I sleep in peace; peaceful poise has come to my home. ||1||Pause||
ਰਜਿ ਰਜਿ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਹੈ, ਇਹ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਰੱਜ ਰੱਜ ਕੇ ਖਾਇਆ ਕਰ,
Eat to your fill, O my Siblings of Destiny.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥

ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਕਰ ।੧।
Meditate on the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, within your heart. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਰਨਾਈ ॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ (ਗੁਰੂ ਸਰਨ-ਪਏ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ),
Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru,
ਜਿਨਿ ਅਪਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥੨॥੮॥੨੬॥
jin apane naam kee paij rakhaiee ||2||8||26||
ਤੇ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਪਾਲੀ ਹੈ ।੭।੮।੨੬।
who has preserved the honor of His Name. ||2||8||26||

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ) ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ (ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ।
The fever and sickness are gone, and the diseases are all dispelled.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਤੂ ਬਖਸਿਆ ਸੰਤਨ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarabraham too bakhasiaa sa(n)tan ras bhog || rahaau ||
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Supreme Lord God has forgiven you, so enjoy the happiness of the Saints. ||Pause||
ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਆਰੋਗ ॥
sarab sukhaa teree ma(n)ddalee teraa man tan aarog ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ, (ਤਾਪ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਗ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਇਹ ਦਵਾਈ ਫਬਵੀਂ ਹੈ ।
All joys have entered your world, and your mind and body are free of disease.
ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਅਵਖਦ ਜੋਗ ॥੧॥
gun gaavahu nit raam ke ieh avakhadh jog ||1||
(ਜੇ ਤੰੂ ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਦਵਾਈ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ, ਤਾਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ, ਤੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ, ਤੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ ।੧।
So chant continuously the Glorious Praises of the Lord; this is the only potent medicine. ||1||
ਆਇ ਬਸਹੁ ਘਰ ਦੇਸ ਮਹਿ ਇਹ ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥
aai basahu ghar dhes meh ieh bhale sa(n)jog ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਅਵਸਰ ਹਨ (ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਇਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਬਾਹਰ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਛਡ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਦੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੁ ।
So come, and dwell in your home and native land; this is such a blessed and auspicious occasion.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਲਹਿ ਗਏ ਬਿਓਗ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੨੮॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।੧੦।੨੮।
O Nanak, God is totally pleased with you; your time of separation has come to an end. ||2||10||28||

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ।
My bonds have been snapped; God Himself has become compassionate.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥
dheen dhiaal prabh paarabraham taa kee nadhar nihaal ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਆਨੰਦ-ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
The Supreme Lord God is Merciful to the meek; by His Glance of Grace, I am in ecstasy. ||1||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
gur poorai kirapaa karee kaaTiaa dhukh rog ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਧਿਆਵਣ-ਜੋਗ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਦੁੱਖ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Perfect Guru has shown mercy to me, and eradicated my pains and illnesses.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸੁਖੀ ਭਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਿਆਵਨ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man tan seetal sukhee bhiaa prabh dhiaavan jog ||1|| rahaau ||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
My mind and body have been cooled and soothed, meditating on God, most worthy of meditation. ||1||Pause||
ਅਉਖਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ॥
aaukhadh har kaa naam hai jit rog na viaapai ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਇਕ ਐਸੀ) ਦਵਾਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਕੋਈ ਭੀ) ਰੋਗ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।
The Name of the Lord is the medicine to cure all disease; with it, no disease afflicts me.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਿਤੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੨॥

ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ) ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ।੨।
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the mind and body are tinged with the Lord's Love, and I do not suffer pain any longer. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
har har har har jaapeeaai a(n)tar liv laiee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ, ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।
I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har, lovingly centering my inner being on Him.
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਸੁਧੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੩॥
kilavikh utareh sudh hoi saadhoo saranaiee ||3||
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ) ਪਾਪ (ਮਨ ਤੋਂ) ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਮਨ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
Sinful mistakes are erased and I am sanctified, in the Sanctuary of the Holy Saints. ||3||
ਸੁਨਤ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਜਸੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਦੂਰਿ ਬਲਾਈ ॥
sunat japat har naam jas taa kee dhoor balaiee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ (ਇਕ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Misfortune is kept far away from those who hear and chant the Praises of the Lord's Name.
ਮਹਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੫੩॥

ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਬਲਾ (ਬਿਪਤਾ) ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੪।੨੩।੫੩।
Nanak chants the Mahaa Mantra, the Great Mantra, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||23||53||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਹੋਈਐ ਆਰੋਗ ॥
har har har aaraadheeaai hoieeaai aarog ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਆਦਿਕ) ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ । ਇਹ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸੋਟੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਸੋਟੀ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਸਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱੁਕ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ) ।
Worship and adore the Lord, Har, Har, Har, and you shall be free of disease.
ਰਾਮਚੰਦ ਕੀ ਲਸਟਿਕਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਰੋਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raamacha(n)dh kee lasaTikaa jin maariaa rog ||1|| rahaau ||
ਇਸ (ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਨੇ (ਹਰੇਕ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
This is the Lord's healing rod, which eradicates all disease. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਨਿਤ ਕੀਚੈ ਭੋਗੁ ॥
gur pooraa har jaapeeaai nit keechai bhog ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Meditating on the Lord, through the Perfect Guru, he constantly enjoys pleasure.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਵਾਰਣੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥੧॥
saadhasa(n)gat kai vaaranai miliaa sa(n)jog ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਅਵਸਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
I am devoted to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; I have been united with my Lord. ||1||
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਬਿਓਗੁ ॥
jis simarat sukh paieeaai binasai biog ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ,
Contemplating Him, peace is obtained, and separation is ended.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੨॥੩੪॥੬੪॥
naanak prabh saranaagatee karan kaaran jog ||2||34||64||
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੩੪।੬੪।
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of God, the All-powerful Creator, the Cause of causes. ||2||34||64||

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਅਵਰਿ ਉਪਾਵ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ਦਾਰੂ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਇਆ ॥
avar upaav sabh tiaagiaa dhaaroo naam liaa ||
ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀਲੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਦਵਾਈ ਵਰਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼, ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ,
I have given up all other efforts, and have taken the medicine of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਤਾਪ ਪਾਪ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਰੋਗ ਸੀਤਲ ਮਨੁ ਭਇਆ ॥੧॥
taap paap sabh miTe rog seetal man bhiaa ||1||
ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ; ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਕੇ) ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।੧।
Fevers, sins and all diseases are eradicated, and my mind is cooled and soothed. ||1||
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਇਆ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Worshipping the Perfect Guru in adoration, all pains are dispelled.
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੈ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਰਿ ਮਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raakhanahaarai raakhiaa apanee kar miaa ||1|| rahaau ||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਉਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Savior Lord has saved me; He has blessed me with His Kind Mercy. ||1||Pause||
ਬਾਹ ਪਕੜਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਾਢਿਆ ਕੀਨਾ ਅਪਨਇਆ ॥
baeh pakaR prabh kaaddiaa keenaa apaniaa ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹੈ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।
Grabbing hold of my arm, God has pulled me up and out; He has made me His own.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਸੁਖੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਭਇਆ ॥੨॥੧॥੬੫॥
simar simar man tan sukhee naanak nirabhiaa ||2||1||65||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ-ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਤਾਪ ਪਾਪ ਰੋਗ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਦਾ) ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ।੨।੧।੬੫।
Meditating, meditating in remembrance, my mind and body are at peace; Nanak has become fearless. ||2||1||65||

ਰੋਗੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥
rog miTaiaa aap prabh upajiaa sukh saa(n)t ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਡੇ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਅਚਰਜ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ।
God Himself eradicated the disease; peace and tranquility have welled up.
ਵਡ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਨੑੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੧॥
vadd parataap acharaj roop har keen(h)ee dhaat ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦਾ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
The Lord blessed me with the gifts of great, glorious radiance and wondrous form. ||1||
ਗੁਰਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਾਈ ॥
gur govi(n)dh kirapaa karee raakhiaa meraa bhaiee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
The Guru, the Lord of the Universe, has shown mercy to me, and saved my brother.
ਹਮ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ham tis kee saranaagatee jo sadhaa sahaiee ||1|| rahaau ||
(ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਿ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨੂੰ (ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ) ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I am under His Protection; He is always my help and support. ||1||Pause||
ਬਿਰਥੀ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
birathee kadhe na hoviee jan kee aradhaas ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣੇ ਰਹੋ) ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਦੇ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਰੋਗ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
The prayer of the Lord's humble servant is never offered in vain.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਿ ॥੨॥੧੩॥੭੭॥
naanak jor govi(n)dh kaa pooran gunataas ||2||13||77||
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ । ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧੩।੭੭।
Nanak takes the strength of the Perfect Lord of the Universe, the treasure of excellence. ||2||13||77||

ਤਾਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
taatee vaau na lagiee paarabraham saranaiee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ (ਵਿਆਧੀਆਂ ਦਾ) ਸੇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ।
The hot wind does not even touch one who is under the Protection of the Supreme Lord God.
ਚਉਗਿਰਦ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਰਾਮ ਕਾਰ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥
chaugiradh hamaarai raam kaar dhukh lagai na bhaiee ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਇਕ ਲਕੀਰ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।੧।
On all four sides I am surrounded by the Lord's Circle of Protection; pain does not afflict me, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
satigur pooraa bheTiaa jin banat banaiee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਦਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ) ਵਿਓਂਤ ਬਣਾ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
I have met the Perfect True Guru, who has done this deed.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਦੀਆ ਏਕਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam aaukhadh dheeaa ekaa liv laiee ||1|| rahaau ||
ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਦਵਾਈ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
He has given me the medicine of the Lord's Name, and I enshrine love for the One Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਤਿਨਿ ਰਖਨਹਾਰਿ ਸਭ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥
raakh le'ee tin rakhanahaar sabh biaadh miTaiee ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਉਸ ਰੱਖਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਰੇਕ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
The Savior Lord has saved me, and eradicated all my sickness.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੨॥੧੫॥੭੯॥
kahu naanak kirapaa bhiee prabh bhe sahaiee ||2||15||79||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ।੨।੧੫।੭੯।
Says Nanak, God has showered me with His Mercy; He has become my help and support. ||2||15||79||

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਅਪਣੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਆਪਿ ਰਖਿਅਨੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
apane baalak aap rakhian paarabraham gurdhev ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਦੇਵਤਾ (ਹੈ, ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ।
The Supreme Lord God, through the Divine Guru, has Himself protected and preserved His children.
ਸੁਖ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਆਨਦ ਭਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਈ ਸੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sukh saa(n)t sahaj aanadh bhe pooran bhiee sev ||1|| rahaau ||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Celestial peace, tranquility and bliss have come to pass; my service has been perfect. ||1||Pause||
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ॥
bhagat janaa kee benatee sunee prabh aap ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ (ਸਭ ਤੋਂ) ਵੱਡਾ ਤੇਜ-ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ (ਸਦਾ) ਸੁਣੀ ਹੈ।
God Himself has heard the prayers of His humble devotees.
ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟਾਇ ਜੀਵਾਲਿਅਨੁ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਵਡ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੧॥
rog miTai jeevaalian jaa kaa vadd parataap ||1||
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
He dispelled my disease, and rejuvenated me; His glorious radiance is so great! ||1||
ਦੋਖ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਬਖਸਿਅਨੁ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
dhokh hamaare bakhasian apanee kal dhaaree ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਐਬ ਸਦਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਭਰੀ ਹੈ ।
He has forgiven me for my sins, and interceded with His power.
ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਦਿਤਿਅਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੨॥੧੬॥੮੦॥
man baa(n)chhat fal dhitian naanak balihaaree ||2||16||80||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੇ ਫਲ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧੬।੮੦।
I have been blessed with the fruits of my mind's desires; Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. ||2||16||80||

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
ਤਾਪੁ ਲਾਹਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰਿ ॥
taap laahiaa gur sirajanahaar ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ (ਆਪ ਬਾਲਕ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ) ਤਾਪ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ ।
Through the Guru, the Creator Lord has subdued the fever.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੀ ਸਾਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur apane kau bal jaiee jin paij rakhee saarai sa(n)saar ||1|| rahaau ||
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ (ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ, ਭਰਮੀ ਲੋਕ ਤਾਂ, ਸੀਤਲਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਬਥੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I am a sacrifice to my True Guru, who has saved the honor of the whole world. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਬਾਲਿਕੁ ਰਖਿ ਲੀਨੋ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ (ਬਾਲਕ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ (ਤਾਪ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ (ਨਿਰਾ ਤਾਪ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ,
Placing His Hand on the child's forehead, He saved him.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਦੀਨੋ ॥੧॥

ਅੱਨ-ਪੂਜਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਰਸ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
God blessed me with the supreme, sublime essence of the Ambrosial Naam. ||1||
ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਲਾਜ ਰਖੈ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
dhaas kee laaj rakhai miharavaan ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਵੇਲੇ ਘਬਰਾ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰੇ ਨਾਹ ਭਾਲਦੇ ਫਿਰੋ
The Merciful Lord saves the honor of His slave.
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੨॥੬॥੮੬॥
gur naanak bolai dharageh paravaan ||2||6||86||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਚੇਤਾ ਰੱਖ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ (ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ) ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ (ਜ਼ਰੂਰ) ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੬।੮੬।
Guru Nanak speaks - it is confirmed in the Court of the Lord. ||2||6||86||

ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
He Himself protects me from suffering and sin.
ਸੀਤਲ ਭਏ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਪ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
seetal bhe gur charanee laage raam naam hiradhe meh jaap ||1|| rahaau ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਠੰਢੇ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Falling at the Guru's Feet, I am cooled and soothed; I meditate on the Lord's Name within my heart. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਸਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦੀਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਉਧਾਰ ਨਵ ਖੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ॥
kar kirapaa hasat prabh dheene jagat udhaar nav kha(n)dd prataap ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਹਨ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ) ਰੱਖੇ ਹਨ ।ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਚਮਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।
Granting His Mercy, God has extended His Hands. He is the Emancipator of the World; His glorious radiance pervades the nine continents.
ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਅਨਦ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਸਚੁ ਧ੍ਰਾਪ ॥੧॥
dhukh binase sukh anadh pravesaa tirasan bujhee man tan sach dhraap ||1||
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
My pain has been dispelled, and peace and pleasure have come; my desire is quenched, and my mind and body are truly satisfied. ||1||
ਅਨਾਥ ਕੋ ਨਾਥੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕੋ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪੁ ॥
anaath ko naath saran samarathaa sagal sirasaT ko maiee baap ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਿਖਸਮਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈ, ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਂ-ਪਿਉ ਹੈ ।
He is the Master of the masterless, All-powerful to give Sanctuary. He is the Mother and Father of the whole Universe.
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਲਾਪ ॥੨॥੨੦॥੧੦੬॥
bhagat vachhal bhai bha(n)jan suaamee gun gaavat naanak aalaap ||2||20||106||
ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭਗਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ ।੨।੨੦।੧੦੬।
He is the Lover of His devotees, the Destroyer of fear; Nanak sings and chants the Glorious Praises of his Lord and Master. ||2||20||106||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਭਏ ਅਰੋਗਾ ॥
kar isanaan simar prabh apanaa man tan bhe arogaa ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਰੋਏ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
After taking your cleansing bath, remember your God in meditation, and your mind and body shall be free of disease.
ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਘਨ ਲਾਥੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗਾ ॥੧॥
koT bighan laathe prabh saranaa pragaTe bhale sa(n)jogaa ||1||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ) ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਅਵਸਰ ਉੱਘੜ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
Millions of obstacles are removed, in the Sanctuary of God, and good fortune dawns. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥
prabh baanee sabadh subhaakhiaa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
The Word of God's Bani, and His Shabad, are the best utterances.
ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gaavahu sunahu paRahu nit bhaiee gur poorai too raakhiaa || rahaau ||
(ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੈ । (ਇਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਰਹੋ, (ਜੇ ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ, ਤਾਂ ਯਕੀਨ ਰੱਖ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
So constantly sing them, listen to them, and read them, O Siblings of Destiny, and the Perfect Guru shall save you. ||Pause||
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਅਮਿਤਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
saachaa saahib amit vaddaiee bhagat vachhal dhiaalaa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਮਿਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਉਹ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ,
The glorious greatness of the True Lord is immeasurable; the Merciful Lord is the Lover of His devotees.
ਸੰਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਆਦਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
sa(n)taa kee paij rakhadhaa aaiaa aadh biradh pratipaalaa ||2||
ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਉਹ (ਸਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ) ਰੱਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣਾ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਉਹ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
He has preserved the honor of His Saints; from the very beginning of time, His Nature is to cherish them. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਿਤ ਭੁੰਚਹੁ ਸਰਬ ਵੇਲਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥
har a(n)mirat naam bhojan nit bhu(n)chahu sarab velaa mukh paavahu ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਸਦਾ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ ।
So eat the Ambrosial Name of the Lord as your food; put it into your mouth at all times.
ਜਰਾ ਮਰਾ ਤਾਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਨਾਠਾ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥੩॥
jaraa maraa taap sabh naaThaa gun gobi(n)dh nit gaavahu ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਹ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਨਾ ਮੌਤ ਆਵੇਗੀ, ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ।੩।
The pains of old age and death shall all depart, when you constantly sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. ||3||
ਸੁਣੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ॥
sunee aradhaas suaamee merai sarab kalaa ban aaiee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ) ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ, (ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਵਿਘਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਾਕਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪੂਰੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
My Lord and Master has heard my prayer, and all my affairs have been resolved.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਈ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੁਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਅਜ਼ਮਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਉੱਘੜ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੪।੧੧।
The glorious greatness of Guru Nanak is manifest, throughout all the ages. ||4||11||

ਸੂਖ ਮੰਗਲ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
sookh ma(n)gal kaliaan sahaj dhun prabh ke charan nihaariaa ||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਨੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਖ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਰੌ ਚੱਲ ਪਈ
I have been blessed with peace, pleasure, bliss, and the celestial sound current, gazing upon the feet of God.
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੈ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਬਾਰਿਕੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਤਾਪੁ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਾਪ (ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼) ਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਘਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਿਤਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।
The Savior has saved His child, and the True Guru has cured his fever. ||1||
ਉਬਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
aubare satigur kee saranaiee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ,
I have been saved, in the True Guru's Sanctuary;
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaa kee sev na birathee jaiee || rahaau ||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
service to Him does not go in vain. ||1||Pause||
ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਖ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਫੁਨਿ ਸੂਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
ghar meh sookh baahar fun sookhaa prabh apune bhe dhiaalaa ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬਾਹਰ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨਾਲ ਵਰਤਣ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ) ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
There is peace within the home of one's heart, and there is peace outside as well, when God becomes kind and compassionate.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਊ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਆ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ॥੨॥੧੨॥੪੦॥
naanak bighan na laagai kouoo meraa prabh hoaa kirapaalaa ||2||12||40||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ, ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧੨।੪੦।
O Nanak, no obstacles block my way; my God has become gracious and merciful to me. ||2||12||40||

ਗਏ ਕਲੇਸ ਰੋਗ ਸਭਿ ਨਾਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
ge kales rog sabh naase prabh apunai kirapaa dhaaree ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ।
My sufferings have come to an end, and all diseases have been eradicated.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਆਰਾਧਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਘਾਲ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
aaTh pahar aaraadhahu suaamee pooran ghaal hamaaree ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ, ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ (ਇਹ) ਮੇਹਨਤ (ਜ਼ਰੂਰ) ਸਫਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
God has showered me with His Grace. Twenty-four hours a day, I worship and adore my Lord and Master; my efforts have come to fruition. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੂ ਸੁਖ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
har jeeau too sukh sa(n)pat raas ||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਧਨ-ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ।
O Dear Lord, You are my peace, wealth and capital.
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਭਾਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raakh laih bhaiee mere kau prabh aagai aradhaas || rahaau ||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ । ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਹੈ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
Please, save me, O my Beloved! I offer this prayer to my God. ||Pause||
ਜੋ ਮਾਗਉ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਵਉ ਅਪਨੇ ਖਸਮ ਭਰੋਸਾ ॥
jo maagau soiee soiee paavau apane khasam bharosaa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ । ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਤੇ (ਪੂਰਾ) ਇਤਬਾਰ (ਬਣ ਚੁਕਾ) ਹੈ ।
Whatever I ask for, I receive; I have total faith in my Master.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ॥੨॥੧੪॥੪੨॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।੧੪।੪੨।
Says Nanak, I have met with the Perfect Guru, and all my fears have been dispelled. ||2||14||42||

simar simar gur satigur apanaa sagalaa dhookh miTaiaa ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ) ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on my Guru, the True Guru, all pains have been eradicated.
ਤਾਪ ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਮਨ ਇਛੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
taap rog ge gur bachanee man ichhe fal paiaa ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੇ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
The fever and the disease are gone, through the Word of the Guru's Teachings, and I have obtained the fruits of my mind's desires. ||1||
ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
meraa gur pooraa sukhadhaataa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
My Perfect Guru is the Giver of peace.
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan kaaran samarath suaamee pooran purakh bidhaataa || rahaau ||
ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
He is the Doer, the Cause of causes, the Almighty Lord and Master, the Perfect Primal Lord, the Architect of Destiny. ||Pause||
ਅਨੰਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
ana(n)dh binodh ma(n)gal gun gaavahu gur naanak bhe dhiaalaa ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ, (ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਸੁਖ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ।
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord in bliss, joy and ecstasy; Guru Nanak has become kind and compassionate.
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰ ਭਏ ਜਗ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਹੋਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥੨॥੧੫॥੪੩॥
jai jai kaar bhe jag bheetar hoaa paarabraham rakhavaalaa ||2||15||43||
(ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ) ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ । (ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ) ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧੫।੪੩।
Shouts of cheers and congratulations ring out all over the world; the Supreme Lord God has become my Savior and Protector. ||2||15||43||

dhurat gavaiaa har prabh aape sabh sa(n)saar ubaariaa ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ (ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ) ਕੀਤੀ, (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਛਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ) ਪਾਪ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ । (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Lord God Himself has rid the whole world of its sins, and saved it.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਅਪਣਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸਮਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
paarabraham prabh kirapaa dhaaree apanaa biradh samaariaa ||1||
ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ (ਦਇਆ-ਪਿਆਰ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸੁਭਾਉ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
The Supreme Lord God extended His mercy, and confirmed His innate nature. ||1||
ਹੋਈ ਰਾਜੇ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਰਖਵਾਲੀ ॥
hoiee raaje raam kee rakhavaalee ||
ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
I have attained the Protective Sanctuary of the Lord, my King.
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਦੇਹ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sookh sahaj aanadh gun gaavahu man tan dheh sukhaalee || rahaau ||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰੋ, (ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਭੀ) ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਣਗੇ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਣਗੇ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
In celestial peace and ecstasy, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and my mind, body and being are at peace. ||Pause||
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥
patit udhaaran satigur meraa moh tis kaa bharavaasaa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ । ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਹੀ) ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ ।
My True Guru is the Savior of sinners; I have placed my trust and faith in Him.
ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਸਭਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਾ ॥੨॥੧੭॥੪੫॥
bakhas le sabh sachai saahib sun naanak kee aradhaasaa ||2||17||45||
ਜਿਸ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲਏ ਹਨ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਭੀ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧੭।੪੫।
The True Lord has heard Nanak's prayer, and He has forgiven everything. ||2||17||45||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਬਖਸਿਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਰੋਗ ਬਿਦਾਰੇ ॥
bakhasiaa paarabraham paramesar sagale rog bidhaare ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਉੱਤੇ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਉਸਨੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ।
The Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, has forgiven me, and all diseases have been cured.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੀ ਉਬਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
gur poore kee saranee ubare kaaraj sagal savaare ||1||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Those who come to the Sanctuary of the True Guru are saved, and all their affairs are resolved. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਜਨਿ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰਿ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਵਿਚ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਰਿਆ),
The Lord's humble servant meditates in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; this is his only support.
ਤਾਪੁ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taap utaariaa satigur poorai apanee kirapaa dhaar || rahaau ||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਤਾਪ ਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Perfect True Guru extended His Mercy, and the fever has been dispelled. ||Pause||
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥
sadhaa ana(n)dh kareh mere piaare har govidh gur raakhiaa ||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ (ਭਾਈ)! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਅਸੀ (ਭੀ) ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ । ਹਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਹੀ ਤਾਪ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਇਆ ਹੈ ।
So celebrate and be happy, my beloveds - the Guru has saved Hargobind.
ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਤਿ ਭਾਖਿਆ ॥੨॥੧੮॥੪੬॥
vaddee vaddiaaiee naanak karate kee saach sabadh sat bhaakhiaa ||2||18||46||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ । ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਹੀ) ਉਚਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ) ਸਹੀ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ (ਠੀਕ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ) ।੨।੧੮।੪੬।
Great is the glorious greatness of the Creator, O Nanak; True is the Word of His Shabad, and True is the sermon of His Teachings. ||2||18||46||

ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪਾਏ ॥
bhe kirapaal guroo govi(n)dhaa sagal manorath paae ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ
The Guru, the Lord of the Universe, became merciful to me, and I obtained all of my mind's desires.
ਅਸਥਿਰ ਭਏ ਲਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੧॥
asathir bhe laag har charanee govi(n)dh ke gun gaae ||1||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲਗਨ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਅੱਗੇ) ਡੋਲਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
I have become stable and steady, touching the Lord's Feet, and singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. ||1||
ਭਲੋ ਸਮੂਰਤੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
bhalo samoorat pooraa ||
:—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹ ਸਮਾ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
It is a good time, a perfectly auspicious time.
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਵਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saa(n)t sahaj aana(n)dh naam jap vaaje anahadh tooraa ||1|| rahaau ||
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ, ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵਾਜੇ ਵੱਜਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I am in celestial peace, tranquility and ecstasy, chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the unstruck melody of the sound current vibrates and resounds. ||1||Pause||
ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
mile suaamee preetam apune ghar ma(n)dhar sukhadhaiee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਘਰ-ਘਾਟ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Meeting with my Beloved Lord and Master, my home has become a mansion filled with happiness.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਗਲੀ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਈ ॥੨॥੮॥੩੬॥
har naam nidhaan naanak jan paiaa sagalee ichh pujaiee ||2||8||36||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੨।੮।੩੬।
Servant Nanak has attained the treasure of the Lord's Name; all his desires have been fulfilled. ||2||8||36||

ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! (ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ।
O Saints, meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵਿਸਰਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sukh saagar prabh visarau naahee man chi(n)dhiaRaa fal paiee ||1|| rahaau ||
ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲੇ, ਮੈਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Never forget God, the ocean of peace; thus you shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਤਾਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
satigur poorai taap gavaiaa apanee kirapaa dhaaree ||
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਬਾਲਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ) ਤਾਪ ਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ।
Extending His Mercy, the Perfect True Guru has dispelled the fever.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਸਭ ਪਰਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
paarabraham prabh bhe dhiaalaa dhukh miTiaa sabh paravaaree ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧।
The Supreme Lord God has become kind and compassionate, and my whole family is now free of pain and suffering. ||1||
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਮੰਗਲ ਰਸ ਰੂਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ ॥
sarab nidhaan ma(n)gal ras roopaa har kaa naam adhaaro ||
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਸਾਡਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਰਸਾਂ ਰੂਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ।
The Treasure of absolute joy, sublime elixir and beauty, the Name of the Lord is my only Support.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖੀ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਉਧਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੋ ॥੨॥੨੦॥੪੮॥
naanak pat raakhee paramesar udhariaa sabh sa(n)saaro ||2||20||48||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨੇ (ਸਾਡੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੨੦।੪੮।
O Nanak, the Transcendent Lord has preserved my honor, and saved the whole world. ||2||20||48||

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਸਹਾਈ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ,
My True Guru is my Savior and Protector.
ਧਾਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਾਥ ਦੇ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਨਵਾ ਨਿਰੋਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhaar kirapaa prabh haath dhe raakhiaa har govidh navaa niroaa ||1|| rahaau ||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਬਾਲਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ) ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਹੁਣ ਬਾਲਕ) ਹਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ-ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Showering us with His Mercy and Grace, God extended His Hand, and saved Hargobind, who is now safe and secure. ||1||Pause||
ਤਾਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥
taap giaa prabh aap miTaiaa jan kee laaj rakhaiee ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਬਾਲਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ) ਤਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ ।
The fever is gone - God Himself eradicated it, and preserved the honor of His servant.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਂਈ ॥੧॥
saadhasa(n)gat te sabh fal paae satigur kai bal jaa(n)iee ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੋਂ (ਮੈਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ (ਸਦਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ (ਹੀ) ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।
I have obtained all blessings from the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; I am a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||1||
ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੋਵੈ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਹਮਰਾ ਗੁਣੁ ਅਵਗੁਣੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥
halat palat prabh dhovai savaare hamaraa gun avagun na beechaariaa ||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਵਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਂ ਔਗੁਣ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ ।
God has saved me, both here and hereafter. He has not taken my merits and demerits into account.
ਅਟਲ ਬਚਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਫਲ ਕਰੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥੨੧॥੪੯॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਤੇਰਾ (ਇਹ) ਬਚਨ ਕਦੇ ਟਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ (ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ) । ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੱਥ (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।੨।੨੧।੪੯।
Your Word is eternal, O Guru Nanak; You placed Your Hand of blessing upon my forehead. ||2||21||49||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਕੀਏ ਸੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
jeea ja(n)tr sabh tis ke ke'ee soiee sa(n)t sahaiee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਦੇ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ; ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
All beings and creatures were created by Him; He alone is the support and friend of the Saints.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਆਪੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਈ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੧॥
apune sevak kee aape raakhai pooran bhiee baddaiee ||1||
ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ (ਇੱਜ਼ਤ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
He Himself preserves the honor of His servants; their glorious greatness becomes perfect. ||1||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਮੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
paarabraham pooraa merai naal ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸਦਾ) ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ (ਸਹਾਈ) ਹੈ ।
The Perfect Supreme Lord God is always with me.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਭ ਰਾਖੀ ਹੋਏ ਸਰਬ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai pooree sabh raakhee hoe sarab dhiaal ||1|| rahaau ||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ (ਇੱਜ਼ਤ) ਰੱਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Perfect Guru has perfectly and totally protected me, and now everyone is kind and compassionate to me. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
anadhin naanak naam dhiaae jeea praan kaa dhaataa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ (ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੁਆਸ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
Night and day, Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He is the Giver of the soul, and the breath of life itself.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਰਾਖੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤਾ ॥੨॥੨੨॥੫੦॥
apune dhaas kau ka(n)Th lai raakhai jiau baarik pit maataa ||2||22||50||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਪੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੨੨।੫੦।
He hugs His slave close in His loving embrace, like the mother and father hug their child. ||2||22||50||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla:
ਠਾਢਿ ਪਾਈ ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ॥
Thaadd paiee karataare ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਠੰਡ ਵਰਤਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
The Creator has brought utter peace to my home;
ਤਾਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਰਵਾਰੇ ॥
taap chhodd giaa paravaare ||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਤਾਪ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
the fever has left my family.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹੈ ਰਾਖੀ ॥
gur poorai hai raakhee ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ,
The Perfect Guru has saved us.
ਸਰਣਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਤਾਕੀ ॥੧॥
saran sache kee taakee ||1||
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੱਕ ਲਿਆ ।੧।
I sought the Sanctuary of the True Lord. ||1||
ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੋਆ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥
paramesar aap hoaa rakhavaalaa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Transcendent Lord Himself has become my Protector.
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਉਪਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਾਲਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saa(n)t sahaj sukh khin meh upaje man hoaa sadhaa sukhaalaa || rahaau ||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
Tranquility, intuitive peace and poise welled up in an instant, and my mind was comforted forever. ||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਦਾਰੂ ॥
har har naam dheeo dhaaroo ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਵਿਕਾਰ-ਰੋਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਦਵਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਮ-ਦਾਰੂ ਨੇ
The Lord, Har, Har, gave me the medicine of His Name,
ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਬਿਦਾਰੂ ॥
tin sagalaa rog bidhaaroo ||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰ-) ਰੋਗ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।
which has cured all disease.
ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
apanee kirapaa dhaaree ||
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ,
He extended His Mercy to me,
ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਬਾਤ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
tin sagalee baat savaaree ||2||
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਕਹਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਈ (ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੰਵਾਰ ਲਿਆ) ।੨।
and resolved all these affairs. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
prabh apanaa biradh samaariaa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਸਦਾ ਹੀ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਪਿਆਰ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੁਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ।
God confirmed His loving nature;
ਹਮਰਾ ਗੁਣੁ ਅਵਗੁਣੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥
hamaraa gun avagun na beechaariaa ||
ਉਹ ਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਂ ਔਗੁਣ ਦਿਲ ਤੇ ਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ ।
He did not take my merits or demerits into account.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਭਇਓ ਸਾਖੀ ॥
gur kaa sabadh bhio saakhee ||
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਇਆ,
The Word of the Guru's Shabad has become manifest,
ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਲਾਜ ਰਾਖੀ ॥੩॥
tin sagalee laaj raakhee ||3||
ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਢਹੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ) ।੩।
and through it, my honor was totally preserved. ||3||
ਬੋਲਾਇਆ ਬੋਲੀ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
bolaiaa bolee teraa ||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।
I speak as You cause me to speak;
ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੇਰਾ ॥
too saahib gunee gaheraa ||
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ।
O Lord and Master, You are the ocean of excellence.
ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਖੀ ॥
jap naanak naam sach saakhee ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਇਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਾਮੀ ਭਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
Nanak chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord, according to the Teachings of Truth.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਾਖੀ ॥੪॥੬॥੫੬॥
apune dhaas kee paij raakhee ||4||6||56||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ (ਸਦਾ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ।੪।੬।੫੬।
God preserves the honor of His slaves. ||4||6||56||
