ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ (Gurmukhi)
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥
salok mahalaa teejaa ||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥
a(n)tar giaan na aaio jit kichh sojhee pai ||
ਵਿਣੁ ਡਿਠਾ ਕਿਆ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਅੰਧਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
vin ddiThaa kiaa saalaaheeaai a(n)dhaa a(n)dh kamai ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
naanak sabadh pachhaaneeaai naam vasai man aai ||1||

ਇਕਾ ਬਾਣੀ ਇਕੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਇਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
eikaa baanee ik gur iko sabadh veechaar ||
ਸਚਾ ਸਉਦਾ ਹਟੁ ਸਚੁ ਰਤਨੀ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
sachaa saudhaa haT sach ratanee bhare bha(n)ddaar ||
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਜੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
gur kirapaa te paieean je dhevai dhevanahaar ||
ਸਚਾ ਸਉਦਾ ਲਾਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਖਟਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
sachaa saudhaa laabh sadhaa khaTiaa naam apaar ||
ਵਿਖੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਕਰਮਿ ਪੀਆਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
vikh vich a(n)mrit pragaTiaa karam peeaavanahaar ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਚੁ ਨ ਭਾਵਈ ॥
jinaa a(n)dhar kooR varatai sach na bhaaviee ||
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਕੂੜਾ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਵਈ ॥
je ko bolai sach kooRaa jal jaaviee ||
ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀ ਰਜੈ ਕੂੜਿ ਜਿਉ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਕਾਗੁ ਖਾਵਈ ॥
kooRiaaree rajai kooR jiau visaTaa kaag khaaviee ||
ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਈ ॥
jis har hoi kirapaal so naam dhiaaviee ||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਪਾਪੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵਈ ॥੧੦॥
har gurmukh naam araadh kooR paap leh jaaviee ||10||
English Translation
Shalok, Third Mehla:
Spiritual wisdom, which would bring understanding, does not enter into his mind.
Without seeing, how can he praise the Lord? The blind act in blindness.
O Nanak, when one realizes the Word of the Shabad, then the Naam comes to abide in the mind. ||1||
Third Mehla:
There is One Bani; there is One Guru; there is one Shabad to contemplate.
True is the merchandise, and true is the shop; the warehouses are overflowing with jewels.
By Guru's Grace, they are obtained, if the Great Giver gives them.
Dealing in this true merchandise, one earns the profit of the incomparable Naam.
In the midst of poison, the Ambrosial Nectar is revealed; by His Mercy, one drinks it in.
O Nanak, praise the True Lord; blessed is the Creator, the Embellisher. ||2||
Pauree:
Those who are permeated by falsehood, do not love the Truth.
If someone speaks the Truth, falsehood is burnt away.
The false are satisfied by falsehood, like the crows who eat manure.
When the Lord grants His Grace, then one meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
As Gurmukh, worship the Lord's Name in adoration; fraud and sin shall disappear. ||10||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਸਲੋਕ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
ਜਿਸ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਣੀ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਗਿਆਨ ਤਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਗਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ,
ਫਿਰ ਜਿਸ (ਹਰੀ) ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ? ਗਿਆਨ-ਹੀਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
ਕੇਵਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣੀਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਾਰੋ—
ਇਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੱਟ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ,
ਜੇ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਹਰੀ) ਦੇਵੇ ਤਾਂ (ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੌਦਾ (ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ) ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਿਲਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਜੋਗ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰੀਏ ਜੋ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਕੇ) ਸਵਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
ਪਉੜੀ।
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੂੜ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ;
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲੇ, ਤਾਂ ਝੂਠਾ (ਸੁਣ ਕੇ) ਸੜ ਬਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਝੂਠ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਝੂਠ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਟਾ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਰਾਧੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਕੂੜ ਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧੦।
