ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
dhanaasaree mahalaa pehilaa ||
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
nadhar kare taa simariaa jai ||
ਆਤਮਾ ਦ੍ਰਵੈ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
aatamaa dhravai rahai liv lai ||
ਆਤਮਾ ਪਰਾਤਮਾ ਏਕੋ ਕਰੈ ॥
aatamaa paraatamaa eko karai ||
ਅੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਰੈ ॥੧॥
a(n)tar kee dhubidhaa a(n)tar marai ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
gur parasaadhee paiaa jai ||
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har siau chit laagai fir kaal na khai ||1|| rahaau ||
ਸਚਿ ਸਿਮਰਿਐ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
sach simariaai hovai paragaas ||
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਹੈ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥
taa te bikhiaa meh rahai udhaas ||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਐਸੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
satigur kee aaisee vaddiaaiee ||
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਵਿਚੇ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
putr kalatr viche gat paiee ||2||
ਐਸੀ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
aaisee sevak sevaa karai ||
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਜੀਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਧਰੈ ॥
jis kaa jeeau tis aagai dharai ||
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
saahib bhaavai so paravaan ||
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
so sevak dharageh paavai maan ||3||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
satigur kee moorat hiradhai vasaae ||
ਜੋ ਇਛੈ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
jo ichhai soiee fal paae ||
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
saachaa saahib kirapaa karai ||
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਕੈਸਾ ਡਰੈ ॥੪॥
so sevak jam te kaisaa ddarai ||4||
ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
bhanat naanak kare veechaar ||
ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
saachee baanee siau dhare piaar ||
ਤਾ ਕੋ ਪਾਵੈ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
taa ko paavai mokh dhuaar ||
ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਇਹੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੁ ॥੫॥੨॥੪॥
jap tap sabh ih sabadh hai saar ||5||2||4||
English Translation
Dhanaasaree, First Mehla:
If the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then one remembers Him in meditation.
The soul is softened, and he remains absorbed in the Lord's Love.
His soul and the Supreme Soul become one.
The duality of the inner mind is overcome. ||1||
By Guru's Grace, God is found.
One's consciousness is attached to the Lord, and so Death does not devour him. ||1||Pause||
Remembering the True Lord in meditation, one is enlightened.
Then, in the midst of Maya, he remains detached.
Such is the Glory of the True Guru;
in the midst of children and spouses, they attain emancipation. ||2||
Such is the service which the Lord's servant performs,
that he dedicates his soul to the Lord, to whom it belongs.
One who is pleasing to the Lord and Master is acceptable.
Such a servant obtains honor in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
He enshrines the image of the True Guru in his heart.
He obtains the rewards which he desires.
The True Lord and Master grants His Grace;
how can such a servant be afraid of death? ||4||
Prays Nanak, practice contemplation,
and enshrine love for the True Word of His Bani.
Then, you shall find the Gate of Salvation.
This Shabad is the most excellent of all chanting and austere meditations. ||5||2||4||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਆਤਮਾ (ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਨਰਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਠੋਰਤਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਣ ਕਰਕੇ) ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪੇ ਤੇ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਪੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਂਹਦਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਜੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ‘ਪਰਗਾਸ’ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਭੀ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਉਸ ‘ਪਰਗਾਸ’ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਭੀ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਿਚ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਖ਼ੂਬੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਆਦਿਕ ਪਰਵਾਰ) ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੨।
ਸੇਵਕ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ) ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ
ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਜਿੰਦ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਾ ਦੇ ਦੇਵੇ ।
ਅਜੇਹਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹ
ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ-ਸਰੂਪ (ਸ਼ਬਦ) ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ (ਇਤਨੀ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ—ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਸ ਗੁਰ-ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
(ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਹ) ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਜਪ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਤਪ ਹੈ ।੫।੨।੪।
