ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bilaaval mahalaa panjavaa ||
ਇਹੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਸੋਈ ਤਰੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
eih saagar soiee tarai jo har gun gaae ||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਵਸੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
saadhasa(n)gat kai sa(n)g vasai vaddabhaagee paae ||1||
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੁਮੑ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਨ ਆਖੀ ॥
sun sun jeevai dhaas tum(h) baanee jan aakhee ||
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਈ ਸਭ ਲੋਅ ਮਹਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਰਾਖੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pragaT bhiee sabh loa meh sevak kee raakhee ||1|| rahaau ||
ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਜਲਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
agan saagar te kaaddiaa prabh jalan bujhaiee ||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਲੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੨॥
a(n)mirat naam jal sa(n)chiaa gur bhe sahaiee ||2||
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਸੁਖ ਕਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
janam maran dhukh kaaTiaa sukh kaa thaan paiaa ||
ਕਾਟੀ ਸਿਲਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਕੀ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
kaaTee silak bhram moh kee apane prabh bhaiaa ||3||
ਮਤ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਛੁ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
mat koiee jaanahu avar kachh sabh prabh kai haath ||
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਏ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਸਾਥਿ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੫੨॥
sarab sookh naanak paae sa(n)g sa(n)tan saath ||4||22||52||
English Translation
Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla:
He alone crosses over this world-ocean, who sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
He dwells with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; by great good fortune, he finds the Lord. ||1||
Your slave lives by hearing, hearing the Word of Your Bani, chanted by Your humble servant.
The Guru is revealed in all the worlds; He saves the honor of His servant. ||1||Pause||
God has pulled me out of the ocean of fire, and quenched my burning thirst.
The Guru has sprinkled the Ambrosial Water of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He has become my Helper. ||2||
The pains of birth and death are removed, and I have obtained a resting place of peace.
The noose of doubt and emotional attachment has been snapped; I have become pleasing to my God. ||3||
Let no one think that there is any other at all; everything is in the Hands of God.
Nanak has found total peace, in the Society of the Saints. ||4||22||52||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਜਗਤ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਇਕ ਸਮੰੁਦਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਠਾਠਾਂ ਮਾਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ਇਸ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ-ਜੋਲ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਕੋਈ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਜੇਹੜੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਉਸ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਜੋ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਘੜ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੜਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਛਿੜਕਿਆ ।੨।
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੱਟ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਜਿਥੇ ਸੁਖ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਹੈ,
ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟ ਲਈ, ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ ।੩।
ਕਿਤੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਹ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਣਾ (ਕਿ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਆਤਮਕ) ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਚਾਰਾ ਚੱਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ,ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ ।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੨੨।੫੨।
