raag soohee mahalaa panjavaa ghar pehilaa
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
ਬਾਜੀਗਰਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਾਜੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
baajeegar jaise baajee paiee ||
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਲਾਈ ॥
naanaa roop bhekh dhikhalaiee ||
ਸਾਂਗੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਥੰਮਿੑਓ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
saa(n)g utaar tha(n)mi(h)o paasaaraa ||
ਤਬ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
tab eko eka(n)kaaraa ||1||
ਕਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਓ ਬਿਨਸਾਇਓ ॥
kavan roop dhirasaTio binasaio ||
ਕਤਹਿ ਗਇਓ ਉਹੁ ਕਤ ਤੇ ਆਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kateh gio uh kat te aaio ||1|| rahaau ||
ਜਲ ਤੇ ਊਠਹਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥
jal te uooTheh anik tara(n)gaa ||
ਕਨਿਕ ਭੂਖਨ ਕੀਨੇ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
kanik bhookhan keene bahu ra(n)gaa ||
ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜਿ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
beej beej dhekhio bahu parakaaraa ||
ਫਲ ਪਾਕੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
fal paake te eka(n)kaaraa ||2||
ਸਹਸ ਘਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥
sahas ghaTaa meh ek aakaas ||
ਘਟ ਫੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਓਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
ghaT fooTe te ohee pragaas ||
ਭਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
bharam lobh moh maiaa vikaar ||
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਛੂਟੇ ਤੇ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
bhram chhooTe te eka(n)kaar ||3||
ਓਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
oh abinaasee binasat naahee ||
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਹੀ ॥
naa ko aavai naa ko jaahee ||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਈ ॥
gur poorai haumai mal dhoiee ||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੧॥

English Translation
Raag Soohee, Fifth Mehla, First House:
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
The actor stages the play,
playing the many characters in different costumes;
but when the play ends, he takes off the costumes,
and then he is one, and only one. ||1||
How many forms and images appeared and disappeared?
Where have they gone? Where did they come from? ||1||Pause||
Countless waves rise up from the water.
Jewels and ornaments of many different forms are fashioned from gold.
I have seen seeds of all kinds being planted
- when the fruit ripens, the seeds appear in the same form as the original. ||2||
The one sky is reflected in thousands of water jugs,
but when the jugs are broken, only the sky remains.
Doubt comes from greed, emotional attachment and the corruption of Maya.
Freed from doubt, one realizes the One Lord alone. ||3||
He is imperishable; He will never pass away.
He does not come, and He does not go.
The Perfect Guru has washed away the filth of ego.
Says Nanak, I have obtained the supreme status. ||4||1||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਰਾਗ ਸੂਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਹ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਬਾਜ਼ੀਗਰ ਨੇ (ਕਦੇ) ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਹੋਵੇ
ਉਹ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਵਿਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ
ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੂਪ ਭੇਖ ਵਿਖਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ)
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਹ (ਜਗਤ-ਰੂਪ) ਨਕਲੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਖੇਡ ਦਾ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਰੋਕ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
(ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ) ਜੀਵ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ, ਤੇ, ਕਿੱਥੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਉਠਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਮੁੜ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਲ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ)
। ਸੋਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣੇ ਘੜੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਨਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ)
ਕਿਸੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਬੀ ਬੀਜ ਕੇ (ਸ਼ਾਖ਼ਾਂ ਪੱਤੇ ਆਦਿਕ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
(ਰੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਫਲ ਪੱਕਣ ਤੇ (ਉਹੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਬੀਜ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਬਹੁ-ਰੰਗੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਅਸਲਾ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਕੋ ਆਕਾਸ਼ (ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਏ) ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਘੜਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ (ਵਖ ਵਖ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
ਜਦੋਂ ਘੜੇ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ (ਆਕਾਸ਼) ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਅੰਸ਼ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ) ਭਟਕਣਾ, ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਉੱਠਦੇ ਹਨ
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭੀ) ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਆਤਮਾ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ
, ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਆਤਮਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ।੪।੧।
