ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ (Gurmukhi)
ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਪਹਰ ਪਹਰ ਤੇ ਘਰੀਆਂ ਆਵ ਘਟੈ ਤਨੁ ਛੀਜੈ ॥
dhin te pahar pahar te ghareeaa(n) aav ghaTai tan chheejai ||
ਕਾਲੁ ਅਹੇਰੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਬਧਿਕ ਜਿਉ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੧॥
kaal aheree firai badhik jiau kahahu kavan bidh keejai ||1||
ਸੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਆਵਨ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
so dhin aavan laagaa ||
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਕੋਊ ਹੈ ਕਾ ਕਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maat pitaa bhaiee sut banitaa kahahu kouoo hai kaa kaa ||1|| rahaau ||
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਬਰਤੈ ਆਪਾ ਪਸੂ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
jab lag jot kaiaa meh baratai aapaa pasoo na boojhai ||
ਲਾਲਚ ਕਰੈ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦ ਕਾਰਨ ਲੋਚਨ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ॥੨॥
laalach karai jeevan padh kaaran lochan kachhoo na soojhai ||2||
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਛੋਡਹੁ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਭਰਮਾ ॥
kahat kabeer sunahu re praanee chhoddahu man ke bharamaa ||
ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਪਰਹੁ ਏਕ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਂ ॥੩॥੨॥
keval naam japahu re praanee parahu ek kee saranaa(n) ||3||2||
English Translation
Day by day, hour by hour, life runs its course, and the body withers away.
Death, like a hunter, a butcher, is on the prowl; tell me, what can we do? ||1||
That day is rapidly approaching.
Mother, father, siblings, children and spouse - tell me, who belongs to whom? ||1||Pause||
As long as the light remains in the body, the beast does not understand himself.
He acts in greed to maintain his life and status, and sees nothing with his eyes. ||2||
Says Kabeer, listen, O mortal: Renounce the doubts of your mind.
Chant only the One Naam, the Name of the Lord, O mortal, and seek the Sanctuary of the One Lord. ||3||2||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਰ ਤੇ ਪਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਘੜੀਆਂ (ਗਿਣ ਲਉ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਥੋੜਾ ਥੋੜਾ ਸਮਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਉਮਰ ਘਟਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
(ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ) ਕਾਲ-ਰੂਪ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਇਉਂ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਹਿਰਨ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ । ਦੱਸੋ, (ਇਸ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਜਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ।੧।
(ਹਰ ਇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ) ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਦੋਂ ਕਾਲ-ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਆ ਪਕੜਦਾ ਹੈ)
ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਭਰਾ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਵਹੁਟੀ—ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ (ਉਸ ਕਾਲ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਜਦ ਤਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਾ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਸ਼ੂ-(ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਜੀਊਣ ਲਈ ਲਾਲਚ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖੀਂ (ਇਹ) ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ (ਕਿ ਕਾਲ-ਅਹੇਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇਗਾ) ।੨।
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੁਣੋ, ਮਨ ਦੇ (ਇਹ) ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਉ (ਕਿ ਸਦਾ ਇੱਥੇ ਬਹਿ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ) ।
। ਹੇ ਜੀਵ? (ਹੋਰ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੋ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਓ ।੩।੨।
