ਸਲੋਕ ॥
salok ||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਰਹੰ ਖੋਜੰਤ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਹ ॥
charan kamal biraha(n) khoja(n)t bairaagee dheh dhiseh ||
ਤਿਆਗੰਤ ਕਪਟ ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਰੂਪ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਮਹ ॥੧॥
tiaaga(n)t kapaT roop maiaa naanak aana(n)dh roop saadh sa(n)gameh ||1||
ਮਨਿ ਸਾਂਈ ਮੁਖਿ ਉਚਰਾ ਵਤਾ ਹਭੇ ਲੋਅ ॥
man saa(n)iee mukh ucharaa vataa habhe loa ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਭਿ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਕੂੜਿਆ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥

ਬਸਤਾ ਤੂਟੀ ਝੁੰਪੜੀ ਚੀਰ ਸਭਿ ਛਿੰਨਾ ॥
basataa tooTee jhu(n)paRee cheer sabh chhi(n)naa ||
ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਪਤਿ ਨ ਆਦਰੋ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਭ੍ਰਮਿੰਨਾ ॥
jaat na pat na aadharo udhiaan bhrami(n)naa ||
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਇਠ ਧਨ ਰੂਪਹੀਣ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਕੁ ਨ ਸਿੰਨਾ ॥
mitr na iTh dhan roopaheen kichh saak na si(n)naa ||
ਰਾਜਾ ਸਗਲੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਭਿੰਨਾ ॥
raajaa sagalee sirasaT kaa har naam man bhi(n)naa ||
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਧੂੜਿ ਮਨੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਾ ॥੭॥
tis kee dhooR man udharai prabh hoi suprasa(n)naa ||7||
English Translation
Shalok:
One who loves the Lord's lotus feet searches for Him in the ten directions.
He renounces the deceptive illusion of Maya, and joins the blissful form of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||
The Lord is in my mind, and with my mouth I chant His Name; I seek Him in all the lands of the world.
O Nanak, all ostentatious displays are false; hearing the Praises of the True Lord, I live. ||2||
Pauree:
He dwells in a broken-down shack, in tattered clothes,
with no social status, no honor and no respect; he wanders in the wilderness,
with no friend or lover, without wealth, beauty, relatives or relations.
Even so, he is the king of the whole world, if his mind is imbued with the Lord's Name.
With the dust of his feet, men are redeemed, because God is very pleased with him. ||7||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਸਲੋਕ।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਦੀ ਖਿੱਚ ਵਿਚ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭੌਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਛਲ-ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦਾ ਖਹਿੜਾ) ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਭਾਲਦਿਆਂ ਭਾਲਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਆਨੰਦ-ਰੂਪ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨ ਦਾ ਅਵਸਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਗਤ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਂਈ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਹ
ਮੈਂ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਚੱਕਰ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਕਿ ਕਿਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣ ਸਕਾਂ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਜੀਉ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੨।
ਪਉੜੀ।
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਟੁੱਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਕੁੱਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ,
ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੋਵੇ, ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਦਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਿਤੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਦਰ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਾ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ)
ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ, ਨਾਹ ਧਨ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਨਾਹ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਕ ਸੈਣ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ
ਅਜੇਹਾ ਨਿਥਾਵਾਂ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ) ਜੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸਮਝੋ
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੭।
