ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੨ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ghar doojaa ||
ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਨ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਦੇ ਤਹ ਤੁਮ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
maat garabh meh aapan simaran dhe teh tum raakhanahaare ||
ਪਾਵਕ ਸਾਗਰ ਅਥਾਹ ਲਹਰਿ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਤਾਰਨਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
paavak saagar athaeh lahar meh taarahu taaranahaare ||1||
ਮਾਧੌ ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਮੋਰਾ ॥
maadhau too Thaakur sir moraa ||
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਧੋਰਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
e'eehaa uoohaa tuhaaro dhoraa || rahaau ||
ਕੀਤੇ ਕਉ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੰਮਾਨੈ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
keete kau merai sa(n)maanai karanahaar tiran jaanai ||
ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਾਗਨ ਕਉ ਸਗਲੀ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਨੈ ॥੨॥
too dhaataa maagan kau sagalee dhaan dheh prabh bhaanai ||2||
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਖਿਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਅਵਰਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਚਲਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥
khin meh avar khinai meh avaraa acharaj chalat tumaare ||
ਰੂੜੋ ਗੂੜੋ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੋ ਊਚੌ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
rooRo gooRo gahir ga(n)bheero uoochau agam apaare ||3||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਉ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਓ ਤਉ ਸੁਨੀ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
saadhasa(n)g jau tumeh milaio tau sunee tumaaree baanee ||
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਪੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੮॥

English Translation
Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla, Second House:
In our mother's womb, You blessed us with Your meditative remembrance, and You preserved us there.
Through the countless waves of the ocean of fire, please, carry us across and save us, O Savior Lord! ||1||
O Lord, You are the Master above my head.
Here and hereafter, You alone are my Support. ||Pause||
He looks upon the creation like a mountain of gold, and sees the Creator as a blade of grass.
You are the Great Giver, and we are all mere beggars; O God, You give gifts according to Your Will. ||2||
In an instant, You are one thing, and in another instant, You are another. Wondrous are Your ways!
You are beautiful, mysterious, profound, unfathomable, lofty, inaccessible and infinite. ||3||
When You brought me to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, then I heard the Bani of Your Word.
Nanak is in ecstasy, beholding the Glory of the Primal Lord of Nirvaanaa. ||4||7||18||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
ਹੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੰੁਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ।
(ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਸਮੰੁਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਡੂੰਘੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਪਏ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈ ।੧।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ, ਤੇ, ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹ ਜੀਵ) ਮੇਰੂ ਪਰਬਤ ਜੇਡੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ਇਕ ਤੀਲੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।੨।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਕੌਤਕ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।
ਹੇ ਅਪਹੰੁਚ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ । ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਪਤ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ।੩।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ ।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੭।੧੮।
