ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
bilaaval mahalaa panjavaa ||
ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਤ ਆਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
audham karat aanadh bhiaa simarat sukh saar ||
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
jap jap naam gobi(n)dh kaa pooran beechaar ||1||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ॥
charan kamal gur ke japat har jap hau jeevaa ||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਆਰਾਧਤੇ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਬਸੇ ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਲੋਚ ॥
jeea ja(n)t sabh sukh base sabh kai man loch ||
ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਤ ਚਿਤਵਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਪੋਚ ॥੨॥
paraupakaar nit chitavate naahee kachh poch ||2||
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਬਸੰਤ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਹ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
dha(n)nu su thaan basa(n)t dha(n)n jeh japeeaai naam ||
ਕਥਾ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਤਿ ਘਨਾ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥੩॥
kathaa keeratan har at ghanaa sukh sahaj bisraam ||3||
ਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਅਨਾਥ ਕੋ ਨਾਥ ॥
man te kadhe na veesarai anaath ko naath ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਾਥ ॥੪॥੨੯॥੫੯॥
naanak prabh saranaagatee jaa kai sabh kichh haath ||4||29||59||
English Translation
BILAAVAL, FIFTH MEHL:
Try to meditate, and contemplate the source of peace, and bliss will come to you. Chanting, and meditating on the Name of the Lord of the Universe, perfect understanding is achieved. || 1 ||
Meditating on the Lotus Feet of the Guru, and chanting the Name of the Lord, I live. Worshipping the Supreme Lord God in adoration, my mouth drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar. || 1 || Pause ||
All beings and creatures dwell in peace; the minds of all yearn for the Lord. Those who continually remember the Lord, do good deeds for others; they harbor no ill will towards anyone. || 2 ||
Blessed is that place, and blessed are those who dwell there, where they chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord. The Sermon and the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises are sung there very often; there is peace, poise and tranquility. || 3 ||
In my mind, I never forget the Lord; He is the Master of the masterless. Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of God; everything is in His hands. || 4 || 29 || 59 ||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਰੂਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਭੂਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ, ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਮੈਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪ-ਵਿਕਾਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਭੀ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ-ਵਾਰਤਾ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਰਹੇ, ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ (ਸੋਮਾ) ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।
ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ- ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਅਨਾਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਦੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਭੁੱਲਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਹੈ।੪।੨੯।੫੯।
