ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
raamakalee mahalaa panjavaa ||
ਸੰਤ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗ ਕੇਲ ॥
sa(n)t kai sa(n)g raam ra(n)g kel ||
ਆਗੈ ਜਮ ਸਿਉ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਲ ॥
aagai jam siau hoi na mel ||
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਕਾ ਭਇਆ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥
aha(n)budh kaa bhiaa binaas ||
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਸਗਲੀ ਨਾਸ ॥੧॥
dhuramat hoiee sagalee naas ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਪੰਡਿਤ ॥

ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਨ ਕਾਜੈ ਕੁਸਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karam kaa(n)dd aha(n)kaar na kaajai kusal setee ghar jaeh pa(n)ddit ||1|| rahaau ||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਜਸੁ ਨਿਧਿ ਲੀਆ ਲਾਭ ॥
har kaa jas nidh leeaa laabh ||
ਪੂਰਨ ਭਏ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਾਭ ॥
pooran bhe manorath saabh ||
ਦੁਖੁ ਨਾਠਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
dhukh naaThaa sukh ghar meh aaiaa ||
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
sa(n)t prasaadh kamal bigasaiaa ||2||
ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
naam ratan jin paiaa dhaan ||
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਹੋਏ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
tis jan hoe sagal nidhaan ||
ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਆਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇ ॥
sa(n)tokh aaiaa man pooraa pai ||
ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਾਗਨ ਕਾਹੇ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
fir fir maagan kaahe jai ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਤ ਪਵਿਤ ॥
har kee kathaa sunat pavit ||
ਜਿਹਵਾ ਬਕਤ ਪਾਈ ਗਤਿ ਮਤਿ ॥
jihavaa bakat paiee gat mat ||
ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
so paravaan jis ridhai vasaiee ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਭਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੨੮॥
naanak te jan uootam bhaiee ||4||17||28||
English Translation
RAAMKALEE, FIFTH MEHL:
In the Saints’ Congregation, play joyfully with the Lord, and you will not have to meet the Messenger of Death hereafter. Your egotistical intellect shall be dispelled, and your evil-mindedness will be totally taken away. || 1 ||
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord’s Name, O Pandit. Religious rituals and egotism are of no use at all. You shall go home with happiness, O Pandit. || 1 || Pause ||
I have earned the profit, the wealth of the Lord’s praise. All my hopes have been fulfilled. Pain has left me, and peace has come to my home. By the Grace of the Saints, my heart-lotus blossoms forth. || 2 ||
One who is blessed with the gift of the jewel of the Name, obtains all treasures. His mind becomes content, finding the Perfect Lord. Why should he ever go begging again? || 3 ||
Hearing the Lord’s sermon, he becomes pure and holy. Chanting it with his tongue, he finds the way to salvation. He alone is approved, who enshrines the Lord within his heart. Nanak: such a humble being is exalted, O Siblings of Destiny. || 4 || 17 || 28 ||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪੇ੍ਰਮ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਖੇਡਿਆ ਕਰ, ਅਗਾਂਹ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਏਗਾ । (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਕਲ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਤੀਰਥ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਲਸਿਲੇ ਦਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ । ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਤੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ (ਜੀਵਨ ਬਤੀਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਸਲ) ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੇਂਗਾ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਦਾ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਸਾਰਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ, ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜ ਪਿਆ।੨।
(ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਤੂੰ ਜਜਮਾਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪਰ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਤਨ ਦਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਜਜਮਾਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕਿਉਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਜਾਇਗਾ?।੩।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ (ਜੀਵਨ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਉਚਾਰਦਿਆਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਅਤੇ (ਸੁਚੱਜੀ) ਅਕਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਵਸਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੪।੧੭।੨੮।
