ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ (Gurmukhi)
ਪਉੜੀ ॥
pauRee ||
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਵਿਤਾ ॥
sat sa(n)tokh sabh sach hai gurmukh pavitaa ||
ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਕਪਟੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਗਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਜਿਤਾ ॥
a(n)dharahu kapaT vikaar giaa man sahaje jitaa ||
ਤਹ ਜੋਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਅਨੰਦ ਰਸੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਗਵਿਤਾ ॥
teh jot pragaas ana(n)dh ras agiaan gavitaa ||
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਕਿਤਾ ॥
anadhin har ke gun ravai gun paragaT kitaa ||
ਸਭਨਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਇਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਤਾ ॥੯॥
sabhanaa dhaataa ek hai iko har mitaa ||9||
English Translation
SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:
One who serves his True Guru, is worshipped by everyone. Of all efforts, the supreme effort is the attainment of the Lord’s Name. Peace and tranquility come to dwell within the mind; meditating within the heart, there comes a lasting peace. The Ambrosial Amrit is his food, and the Ambrosial Amrit is his clothes; O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, greatness is obtained. || 1 ||
THIRD MEHL: O mind, listen to the Guru’s Teachings, and you shall obtain the treasure of virtue. The Lord, the Giver of peace, shall dwell in your mind, and your egotism and pride shall depart. O Nanak, when the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then, night and day, one centers his meditation on the Lord. || 2 ||
PAUREE: The Gurmukh is totally truthful, content and pure. Deception and wickedness have departed from within him, and he easily conquers his mind. There, the Divine Light and the essence of bliss are manifest, and ignorance is eliminated. Night and day, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and manifests the excellence of the Lord. The One Lord is the Giver of all; the Lord alone is our friend. || 9 ||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕਹੇ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਬੰਦਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋ, (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਮਾਣ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਸਾਰੇ ਉਪਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਉਪਾਉ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ, ‘ਨਾਮ’ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਸਦਾ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਢ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ । (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ‘ਨਾਮ’ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਤੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ (-ਨਾਮ) ਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਆਦਰ ਮਾਣ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਸੁਣ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏਗਾ; ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸੇਗਾ, ਹਉਮੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।੨।
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ; ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਖੋਟ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੌਖੇ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਇਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ (ਅੱਪੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਜੋਤਿ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਟ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਫਿਰ) ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਰੱਬੀ) ਗੁਣ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ।੯।
