ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
soraTh mahalaa panjavaa ||
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਇਹੁ ॥
hiradhai naam vasaih ||
ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਹੁ ॥
ghar baiThe guroo dhiaaih ||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
gur poorai sach kahiaa ||
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਲਹਿਆ ॥੧॥
so sukh saachaa lahiaa ||1||
ਅਪੁਨਾ ਹੋਇਓ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥
apunaa hoio gur miharavaanaa ||
ਅਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
anadh sookh kaliaan ma(n)gal siau ghar aae kar isanaanaa || rahaau ||
ਸਾਚੀ ਗੁਰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
saachee gur vaddiaaiee ||
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
taa kee keemat kahan na jaiee ||
ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ॥
sir saahaa paatisaahaa ||
ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਾ ॥੨॥
gur bheTat man omaahaa ||2||
ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਛਤ ਲਾਥੇ ॥
sagal paraachhat laathe ||
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
mil saadhasa(n)gat kai saathe ||
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
gun nidhaan har naamaa ||
ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੩॥
jap pooran hoe kaamaa ||3||
ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥
gur keeno mukat dhuaaraa ||
ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੈ ਜੈਕਾਰਾ ॥
sabh sirasaT karai jaikaaraa ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
naanak prabh merai saathe ||
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੨॥
janam maran bhai laathe ||4||2||52||
English Translation
SORAT’H, FIFTH MEHL:
Enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within your heart; sitting within your own home, meditate on the Guru. The Perfect Guru has spoken the Truth; the True Peace is obtained only from the Lord. || 1 ||
My Guru has become merciful. In bliss, peace, pleasure and joy, I have returned to my own home, after my purifying bath. || Pause ||
True is the glorious greatness of the Guru; His worth cannot be described. He is the Supreme Overlord of kings. Meeting with the Guru, the mind is enraptured. || 2 ||
All sins are washed away, meeting with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. The Lord’s Name is the treasure of excellence; chanting it, one’s affairs are perfectly resolved. || 3 ||
The Guru has opened the door of liberation, and the entire world applauds Him with cheers of victory. O Nanak, God is always with me; my fears of birth and death are gone. || 4 || 2 || 52 ||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖੋ । ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ । ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਸੁਖ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਵਲ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਉੱਚਤਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ-ਕੀਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ । ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਉ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ) ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ (ਕਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) । (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਸੋਭਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ (ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਲਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ।੪।੨।੫੨।
