ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
raamakalee mahalaa pehilaa ||
ਸਾਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਬੂੰਦ ਬੂੰਦ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਕਵਣੁ ਬੁਝੈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
saagar meh boo(n)dh boo(n)dh meh saagar kavan bujhai bidh jaanai ||
ਉਤਭੁਜ ਚਲਤ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਿ ਚੀਨੈ ਆਪੇ ਤਤੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੧॥
autabhuj chalat aap kar cheenai aape tat pachhaanai ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
aaisaa giaan beechaarai koiee ||
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tis te mukat param gat hoiee ||1|| rahaau ||
ਦਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਰੈਣਿ ਮਹਿ ਦਿਨੀਅਰੁ ਉਸਨ ਸੀਤ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
dhin meh rain rain meh dhineear usan seet bidh soiee ||
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਮਝ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥
taa kee gat mit avar na jaanai gur bin samajh na hoiee ||2||
ਪੁਰਖ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਮਹਿ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
purakh meh naar naar meh purakhaa boojhahu braham giaanee ||
ਧੁਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
dhun meh dhiaan dhiaan meh jaaniaa gurmukh akath kahaanee ||3||
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਪੰਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਈ ॥
man meh jot jot meh manooaa pa(n)ch mile gur bhaiee ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜਿਨ ਏਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥੯॥
naanak tin kai sadh balihaaree jin ek sabadh liv laiee ||4||9||
English Translation
RAAMKALEE, FIRST MEHL:
The drop is in the ocean, and the ocean is in the drop. Who understands, and knows this? He Himself creates the wondrous play of the world. He Himself contemplates it, and understands its true essence. || 1 ||
How rare are those who contemplate this spiritual wisdom. Through this, the supreme state of liberation is attained. || 1 || Pause ||
The night is in the day, and the day is in the night. The same is true of hot and cold. No one else knows His state and extent; without the Guru, this is not understood. || 2 ||
The female is in the male, and the male is in the female. Understand this, O God-realized being! The meditation is in the music, and knowledge is in meditation. Become Gurmukh, and speak the Unspoken Speech. || 3 ||
The Light is in the mind, and the mind is in the Light. The Guru brings the five senses together, like brothers. Nanak is forever a sacrifice to those who enshrine love for the One Word of the Shabad. || 4 || 9 ||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੂੰਦਾਂ ਹਨ (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਬੂੰਦਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ) ਉਤਭੁਜ (ਆਦਿਕ ਚਾਰ ਖਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਤਪੱਤੀ) ਦਾ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ—ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ ਬੁੱਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਵਿਓਂਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਉਸ (ਸਰਬ-ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ—ਅਜੇਹਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ (ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ) ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਦਿਨ (ਦੇ ਚਾਨਣ) ਵਿਚ ਰਾਤ (ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ) ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਰਾਤ (ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ) ਵਿਚ ਸੂਰਜ (ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ) ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਇਹੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਹੈ ਗਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਤੇ ਠੰਢ ਦੀ (ਕਦੇ ਗਰਮੀ ਹੈ ਕਦੇ ਠੰਢ, ਕਿਤੇ ਗਰਮੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਤੇ ਠੰਢ)—(ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਖੇਡ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਦੀ ਹੈ) । ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ । ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ (ਕਿ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਕੱਥ ਹੈ)।੨।
ਹੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਵੇਖ ਅਚਰਜ ਖੇਡ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੀਰਜ ਤੋਂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ । ਪਰ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਹੈ । ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਇਕੋ ਇਸ਼ਟ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੪।੯।
