ਆਸਾ ਬਾਣੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਜੀਉ ਕੀ
aasaa baanee sree ravidhaas jeeau kee
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮੀਨ ਭ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਪਤੰਗ ਕੁੰਚਰ ਏਕ ਦੋਖ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥
mirag meen bhira(n)g pata(n)g ku(n)char ek dhokh binaas ||
ਪੰਚ ਦੋਖ ਅਸਾਧ ਜਾ ਮਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੇਤਕ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
pa(n)ch dhokh asaadh jaa meh taa kee ketak aas ||1||
ਮਾਧੋ ਅਬਿਦਿਆ ਹਿਤ ਕੀਨ ॥
maadho abidhiaa hit keen ||
ਬਿਬੇਕ ਦੀਪ ਮਲੀਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਤ੍ਰਿਗਦ ਜੋਨਿ ਅਚੇਤ ਸੰਭਵ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਅਸੋਚ ॥
tiragadh jon achet sa(n)bhav pu(n)n paap asoch ||
ਮਾਨੁਖਾ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਦੁਲਭ ਤਿਹੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪੋਚ ॥੨॥
maanukhaa avataar dhulabh tihee sa(n)gat poch ||2||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਜਹਾ ਜਹਾ ਲਗੁ ਕਰਮ ਕੇ ਬਸਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
jeea ja(n)t jahaa jahaa lag karam ke bas jai ||
ਕਾਲ ਫਾਸ ਅਬਧ ਲਾਗੇ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਉਪਾਇ ॥੩॥
kaal faas abadh laage kachh na chalai upai ||3||
ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਦਾਸ ਉਦਾਸ ਤਜੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਪਨ ਤਪੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ॥
ravidhaas dhaas udhaas taj bhram tapan tap gur giaan ||
ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਭੈ ਹਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਿਦਾਨ ॥੪॥੧॥

English Translation
Aasaa, The Word Of The Reverend Ravi Daas Jee:
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
The deer, the fish, the bumble bee, the moth and the elephant are destroyed, each for a single defect.
So the one who is filled with the five incurable vices - what hope is there for him? ||1||
O Lord, he is in love with ignorance.
His lamp of clear wisdom has grown dim. ||1||Pause||
The creeping creatures live thoughtless lives, and cannot discriminate between good and evil.
It is so difficult to obtain this human incarnation, and yet, they keep company with the low. ||2||
Wherever the beings and creatures are, they are born according to the karma of their past actions.
The noose of death is unforgiving, and it shall catch them; it cannot be warded off. ||3||
O servant Ravi Daas, dispel your sorrow and doubt, and know that Guru-given spiritual wisdom is the penance of penances.
O Lord, Destroyer of the fears of Your humble devotees, make me supremely blissful in the end. ||4||1||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਆਸਾ। ਮਾਣਨੀਯ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ।
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਨ, ਮੱਛੀ, ਭੌਰਾ, ਭੰਬਟ, ਹਾਥੀ—ਇਕ ਇਕ ਐਬ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਰ ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਪੰਜੇ ਅਸਾਧ ਰੋਗ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਚਣ ਦੀ ਕਦ ਤਕ ਆਸ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ? ।੧।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੀਵ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ;
ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਦਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਧੰੁਧਲਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਪਰਖ-ਹੀਣ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਭਲੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਪਸ਼ੂ ਆਦਿਕ ਟੇਢੀਆਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਹੀਨ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਪ ਪੰੁਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਪਰਵਾਹ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਹੈ;
ਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਜਨਮ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਭੀ ਨੀਚ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਸੋਚ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਸੀ) ।੨।
ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਜਨਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਜਿਥੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਭੀ ਹਨ,
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲ ਦੀ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ) ਐਸੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਪਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕੱਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੁਝ ਪੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ ।੩।
ਹੇ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ! ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ; ਇਹ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਕਮਾ, ਇਹੀ ਤਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਪ ਹੈ ।
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਖ਼ਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ) ਪਰਮ ਅਨੰਦ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੋ (ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ) ।੪।੧।
