ਕਿਆ ਸੁਣੇਦੋ ਕੂੜੁ ਵੰਞਨਿ ਪਵਣ ਝੁਲਾਰਿਆ ॥
kiaa sunedho kooR va(n)n(j)n pavan jhulaariaa ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਣੀਅਰ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਜੋ ਸੁਣੇਦੇ ਸਚੁ ਧਣੀ ॥੧॥

ਤਿਨ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ ਜਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
tin ghol ghumaiee jin prabh sravanee suniaa raam ||
ਸੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਭਣਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
se sahaj suhele jin har har rasanaa bhaniaa raam ||
ਸੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਗੁਣਹ ਅਮੋਲੇ ਜਗਤ ਉਧਾਰਣ ਆਏ ॥
se sahaj suhele guneh amole jagat udhaaran aae ||
ਭੈ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਸਾਗਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਣਾ ਕੇਤੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਏ ॥
bhai bohith saagar prabh charanaa kete paar laghaae ||
ਜਿਨ ਕੰਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨ ਗਣਿਆ ॥

ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਮਾਨੇ ਸੇ ਪਰਧਾਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥

ਹਰਿ ਰਸਹਿ ਅਘਾਏ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਮਈਆ ਜਾਤੇ ॥

ਸੇਈ ਸਜਣ ਸੰਤ ਸੇ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਪਣੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥

jan chaakh aghaane har har a(n)mrit meeThaa raam ||
ਹਰਿ ਮਨਹਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੂਠਾ ਅਮਿਉ ਵੂਠਾ ਸੁਖ ਭਏ ॥
har maneh meeThaa prabhoo tooThaa amiau vooThaa sukh bhe ||
ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸ ਭਰਮ ਬਿਨਾਸ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਜਪਿ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਈਸਹ ਜੈ ਜਏ ॥
dhukh naas bharam binaas tan te jap jagadhees ieeseh jai je ||
ਮੋਹ ਰਹਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਥਾਕੇ ਪੰਚ ਤੇ ਸੰਗੁ ਤੂਟਾ ॥
moh rahat bikaar thaake pa(n)ch te sa(n)g tooTaa ||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਖੰਨੀਐ ਵੰਞਾ ਜਿਨ ਘਟਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵੂਠਾ ॥੩॥

English Translation
SHALOK:
Why do you listen to falsehood? It shall vanish like a gust of wind. O Nanak, those ears are acceptable, which listen to the True Master. || 1 ||
CHHANT: I am a sacrifice to those who listen to the Lord God with their ears. Intuitively embellished are those, who with their tongues chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. They are intuitively embellished with priceless virtues; they have come to save the world. God’s Feet are the boat, which carries many across the terrifying world-ocean. Those who are blessed with the favor of my Lord and Master are not asked to render their account. Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who listen to God with their ears. || 1 ||
SHALOK: With my eyes, I have seen the Light, but my immense thirst is not quenched. O Nanak, those eyes are different, which behold my Husband Lord. || 1 ||
CHHANT: I am a sacrifice to those who have seen the Lord God. In the True Court of the Lord, they are approved. They are approved by their Lord and Master, and acclaimed as supreme; they are attuned to the Lord’s Love. They are satiated with the sublime essence of the Lord, and they merge in celestial peace; in each and every heart, they see the all-pervading Lord. They alone are the friendly Saints, and they alone are happy, who are pleasing to their Lord and Master. Says Nanak, I am forever a sacrifice to those who have seen the Lord God. || 2 ||
SHALOK: The body is blind, totally blind and desolate, without the Naam. O Nanak, fruitful is the life of that being, within whose heart the True Lord and Master abides. || 1 ||
CHHANT: I am cut into pieces as a sacrifice, to those who have seen my Lord God. His humble servants partake of the sweet Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord, Har, Har, and are satiated. The Lord seems sweet to their minds; God is merciful to them. His Ambrosial Nectar rains down upon them, and they are at peace. Pain is eliminated and doubt is dispelled from the body; meditating on the Lord of the World, their victory is celebrated. They are rid of emotional attachment, their sins are erased, and their association with the five passions is broken off. Says Nanak, I am every bit a sacrifice to those, within whose hearts my Lord God abides. || 3 ||
SHALOK: Those who long for the Lord, are said to be His servants. Nanak knows this Truth, that the Lord is not separate from His Saints. || 1 ||
CHHANT: As water mixes and blends with water, so does one’s light mix and blend with the Light. Merging with the perfect, all-powerful Creator, one comes to know his own self. Then, one is intuitively absorbed in state of absolute Samaadhi, and one speaks of the One and Only Lord. He Himself is unmanifest, and He Himself is liberated; He Himself speaks of Himself. O Nanak, doubts, fears and the limitations of the three qualities are dispelled, as one merges, like water blending with water. || 4 || 2 ||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਹ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ? (ਇਹ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਤਾਂ) ਹਵਾ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਸਿਰਫ਼) ਉਹ ਕੰਨ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹਨ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।
ਛੰਤੁ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ । ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਸੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹਨ (ਆਪ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ (ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ) ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਕਰਨਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ।੧।
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਅਜੇ ਭੀ) ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਜਗਤ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਸ) ਬਹੁਤ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਪਿਆਸ ਬੁੱਝਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਉਹ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ)।੧।
ਛੰਤੁ । ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ) ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਮੰਨੇ-ਪ੍ਰਮੰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਨਾਲ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਲੇ ਹਨ, ਸੰਤ ਹਨ, ਸੁਖੀ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਛੰਤੁ । ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ-ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ) ਚੱਖ ਕੇ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੈ-ਜੈਕਾਰ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਭਰਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ-ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੩।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ (ਅਸਲ) ਸੇਵਕ ਅਖਵਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸੱਚ ਜਾਣ, ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੧।
ਛੰਤੁ । (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ) ਆਤਮਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਪੂਰਨ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੁੰਞ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ । (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ) ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਰਮ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹ ਇਉਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੨।
