salok mahalaa panjavaa ||
ਲਗੜੀ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਜੋੜਣਹਾਰੈ ਜੋੜੀਆ ॥
lagaRee suthaan joRanahaarai joReeaa ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਲਖ ਸੈ ਆਨ ਡੁਬਣ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੧॥
naanak laharee lakh sai aan dduban dhei na maa piree ||1||

ਬਨਿ ਭੀਹਾਵਲੈ ਹਿਕੁ ਸਾਥੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
ban bheehaavalai hik saathee ladham dhukh harataa har naamaa ||
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾਂ ॥੨॥

ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿਆ ॥

ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਜਪਤਿਆ ॥

ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਜਨ ॥

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਮਨ ॥

ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
gur peh sifat bha(n)ddaar karamee paieeaai ||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਧਾਈਐ ॥
satigur nadhar nihaal bahuR na dhaieeaai ||
ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਆਪਣੇ ॥
rakhai aap dhiaal kar dhaasaa aapane ||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣੇ ॥੭॥

English Translation
RAAG SOOHEE, CHHANT, FIFTH MEHL, SECOND HOUSE:
ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:
I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. I am awake, night and day, in the Lord’s Love. Awake to the Lord’s Love, my sins have left me. I meet with the Beloved Saints. Attached to the Guru’s Feet, my doubts are dispelled, and all my affairs are resolved. Listening to the Word of the Guru’s Bani with my ears, I know celestial peace. By great good fortune, I meditate on the Lord’s Name. Prays Nanak, I have entered my Lord and Master’s Sanctuary. I dedicate my body and soul to God. || 1 ||
The unstruck melody of the Shabad, the Word of God is so very beautiful. True joy comes from singing the Lord’s Praises. Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, pain is dispelled, and my mind is filled with tremendous joy. My mind and body have become immaculate and pure, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan; I chant the Name of God. I am the dust of the feet of the Holy. Worshipping God in adoration, my God is pleased with me. Prays Nanak, please bless me with Your Mercy, that I may sing Your Glorious Praises forever. || 2 ||
Meeting with the Guru, I cross over the world-ocean. Meditating on the Lord’s Feet, I am emancipated. Meditating on the Lord’s Feet, I have obtained the fruits of all rewards, and my comings and goings have ceased. With loving devotional worship, I meditate intuitively on the Lord, and my God is pleased. Meditate on the One, Unseen, Infinite, Perfect Lord; there is no other than Him. Prays Nanak, the Guru has erased my doubts; wherever I look, there I see Him. || 3 ||
The Lord’s Name is the Purifier of sinners. It resolves the affairs of the humble Saints. I have found the Saintly Guru, meditating on God. All my desires have been fulfilled. The fever of egotism has been dispelled, and I am always happy. I have met God, from whom I was separated for so long. My mind has found peace and tranquility; congratulations are pouring in. I shall never forget Him from my mind. Prays Nanak, the True Guru has taught me this, to vibrate and meditate forever on the Lord of the Universe. || 4 || 1 || 3 ||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ) ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਭੀ ਸੰਵਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਕੰਨੀਂ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ) ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ (ਰੱਖ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਗਾਂਵਿਆਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਕ-ਰਸ (ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ (ਭੀ) ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ । ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੂੰਹ-ਮੰਗੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ (ਭੀ) ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ । ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, (ਹੁਣ) ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਧਰ ਉਹ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਹੀ (ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ)।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ । ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈਆਂ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜੇ-ਮੱਥੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ, ਚਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ । ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਗਈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ । ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ।੪।੧।੩।
