ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
raamakalee mahalaa panjavaa ||
ੲੰੀਧਨ ਤੇ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
e(n)eedhan te baisa(n)tar bhaagai ||
ਮਾਟੀ ਕਉ ਜਲੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਤਿਆਗੈ ॥
maaTee kau jal dheh dhis tiaagai ||
ਊਪਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਤਲੈ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥
uoopar charan talai aakaas ||
ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਕੀਓ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
ghaT meh si(n)dh keeo paragaas ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ॥
aaisaa sa(n)mrath har jeeau aap ||
ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜੀਅ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੈ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਮਨ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਜਾਪਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nimakh na bisarai jeea bhagatan kai aaTh pahar man taa kau jaap ||1|| rahaau ||
ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਮਾਖਨੁ ਪਾਛੈ ਦੂਧੁ ॥
prathame maakhan paachhai dhoodh ||
ਮੈਲੂ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਾਬੁਨੁ ਸੂਧੁ ॥
mailoo keeno saabun soodh ||
ਭੈ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਡਰਤਾ ਫਿਰੈ ॥
bhai te nirabhau ddarataa firai ||
ਹੋਂਦੀ ਕਉ ਅਣਹੋਂਦੀ ਹਿਰੈ ॥੨॥
ho(n)dhee kau anaho(n)dhee hirai ||2||
ਦੇਹੀ ਗੁਪਤ ਬਿਦੇਹੀ ਦੀਸੈ ॥
dhehee gupat bidhehee dheesai ||
ਸਗਲੇ ਸਾਜਿ ਕਰਤ ਜਗਦੀਸੈ ॥
sagale saaj karat jagadheesai ||
ਠਗਣਹਾਰ ਅਣਠਗਦਾ ਠਾਗੈ ॥

ਬਿਨੁ ਵਖਰ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਉਠਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੩॥
bin vakhar fir fir uTh laagai ||3||
ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਖਿਆਣ ॥
sa(n)t sabhaa mil karahu bakhiaan ||
ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ॥
si(n)mirat saasat bedh puraan ||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਕੋਇ ॥
braham beechaar beechaare koi ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੪੩॥੫੪॥
naanak taa kee param gat hoi ||4||43||54||
English Translation
Raamkalee, Fifth Mehla:
The fire runs away from the fuel.
The water runs away from the dust in all directions.
The feet are above, and the sky is beneath.
The ocean appears in the cup. ||1||
Such is our all-powerful dear Lord.
His devotees do not forget Him, even for an instant. Twenty-four hours a day, O mind, meditate on Him. ||1||Pause||
First comes the butter, and then the milk.
The dirt cleans the soap.
The fearless are afraid of fear.
The living are killed by the dead. ||2||
The visible body is hidden, and the etheric body is seen.
The Lord of the world does all these things.
The one who is cheated, is not cheated by the cheat.
With no merchandise, the trader trades again and again. ||3||
So join the Society of the Saints, and chant the Lord's Name.
So say the Simritees, Shaastras, Vedas and Puraanas.
Rare are those who contemplate and meditate on God.
O Nanak, they attain the supreme status. ||4||43||54||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
(ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਵੇਖ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ!) ਲੱਕੜੀ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗ ਪਰੇ ਭੱਜਦੀ ਹੈ (ਲੱਕੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਗ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ) ।
(ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦਾ) ਪਾਣੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਧਰਤੀ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਡੋਬਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ) ।
(ਰੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਪੈਰ (ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ) ਉਪਰ ਵਲ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਹੇਠਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਹੈ ।
ਘੜੇ ਵਿਚ (ਨਿੱਕੇ ਨਿੱਕੇ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸਮੁੰਦਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਬੜੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ।
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਸਰਦਾ । ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੁੱਧ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਿੜਕਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਤੱਤ-ਮੱਖਣ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪਰ ਵੇਖ! ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਤੱਤ-) ਮੱਖਣ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ-ਜਗਤ) ਦੁੱਧ ਪਿਛੋਂ (ਬਣਦਾ) ਹੈ (ਜਗਤ-ਪਸਾਰੇ ਰੂਪ ਦੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਤੱਤ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮੱਖਣ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ) ।
(ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮੈਲ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਹੂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁੱਧ ਸਾਬਣ ਵਰਗਾ ਚਿੱਟਾ ਦੁੱਧ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਨਿਰਭਉ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਅੰਸ ਜੀਵ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਡਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮਾਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਭਜਾਈ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ) ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਆਤਮਾ (ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ) ਲੁਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕੌਤਕ) ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਠਗਣੀ-ਮਾਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਠੱਗਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।
ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਜੀਵ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਬੜਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
ਸੰਤ-ਸਭਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ, ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਕਰ ਕੇ
ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ) ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ (ਇਸ ਠਗਣੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ) ।
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ ।੪।੪੩।੫੪।
