ਹਰਿ ਜਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥
har jape har ma(n)dhar saajiaa sa(n)t bhagat gun gaaveh raam ||
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਸਗਲੇ ਪਾਪ ਤਜਾਵਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥
simar simar suaamee prabh apanaa sagale paap tajaaveh raam ||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

ਸਹਜ ਕਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਅਤਿ ਮੀਠੀ ਕਥੀ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥
sahaj kathaa prabh kee at meeThee kathee akath kahaanee ||
ਭਲਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਪਲੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਬਿਚਲ ਨੀਵ ਰਖਾਈ ॥
bhalaa sa(n)jog moorat pal saachaa abichal neev rakhaiee ||
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ॥੧॥
jan naanak prabh bhe dhiaalaa sarab kalaa ban aaiee ||1||
ਆਨੰਦਾ ਵਜਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਵਾਜੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੂਠਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਝੂਠਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ॥
anahadh baanee gurmukh vakhaanee jas sun sun man tan hariaa ||
ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਬਣਿ ਆਏ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
sarab sukhaa tis hee ban aae jo prabh apanaa kariaa ||
ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
ghar meh nav nidh bhare bha(n)ddaaraa raam naam ra(n)g laagaa ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੨॥

ਛਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਕੀਨੑੀ ਸਗਲੀ ਤਪਤਿ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
chhaiaa prabh chhatrapat keen(h)ee sagalee tapat binaasee raam ||
ਦੂਖ ਪਾਪ ਕਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਾਠਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਇਆ ਰਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
dhookh paap kaa dderaa ddaaThaa kaaraj aaiaa raasee raam ||
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਮਿਟੀ ਬਲਾਇਆ ਸਾਚੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਫਲਿਆ ॥
har prabh furamaiaa miTee balaiaa saach dharam pu(n)n faliaa ||
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸੋਵਤ ਬੈਸਤ ਖਲਿਆ ॥
so prabh apunaa sadhaa dhiaaieeaai sovat baisat khaliaa ||
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
gun nidhaan sukh saagar suaamee jal thal maheeal soiee ||
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥
jan naanak prabh kee saranaiee tis bin avar na koiee ||3||
ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰੁ ਬਨਿਆ ਬਨੁ ਤਾਲੁ ਬਨਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਰਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
meraa ghar baniaa ban taal baniaa prabh parase har raiaa raam ||
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੋਹਿਆ ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਸਰਸੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੰਗਲ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
meraa man sohiaa meet saajan sarase gun ma(n)gal har gaiaa raam ||
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਧਿਆਇ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਗਲ ਇਛਾ ਪਾਈਆ ॥
gun gai prabhoo dhiaai saachaa sagal ichhaa paieeaa ||
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਗੇ ਮਨਿ ਵਜੀਆ ਵਾਧਾਈਆ ॥
gur charan laage sadhaa jaage man vajeeaa vaadhaieeaa ||
ਕਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਖਹ ਗਾਮੀ ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥
karee nadhar suaamee sukheh gaamee halat palat savaariaa ||
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥੪॥੪॥੭॥

English Translation
SOOHEE, FIFTH MEHL:
Meditating on the Lord, the Lord’s Temple has been built; the Saints and devotees sing the Lord’s Glorious Praises. Meditating, meditating in remembrance of God, their Lord and Master, they discard and renounce all their sins. Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the supreme status is obtained. The Word of God’s Bani is sublime and exalted. God’s Sermon is so very sweet. It brings celestial peace. It is to speak the Unspoken Speech. The time and the moment were auspicious, blessed and true, when the eternal foundation of this Temple was placed. O servant Nanak, God has been kind and compassionate; with all His powers, He has blessed me. || 1 ||
The sounds of ecstasy vibrate through me continuously. I have enshrined the Supreme Lord within my mind. As Gurmukh, my lifestyle is excellent and true; my false hopes and doubts are dispelled. The Gurmukh chants the Bani of the unstruck melody; hearing it, listening to it, my mind and body are rejuvenated. All pleasures are obtained, by that one whom God makes His Own. Within the home of the heart are the nine treasures, filled to overflowing. He has fallen in love with the Lord’s Name. Servant Nanak shall never forget God; his destiny is perfectly fulfilled. || 2 ||
God, the King, has given me shade under His canopy, and the fire of desire has been totally extinguished. The home of sorrow and sin has been demolished, and all affairs have been resolved. When the Lord God so commands, misfortune is averted; true righteousness, Dharma and charity flourish. Meditate forever on your God, when you sleep and sit and stand. The Lord and Master is the treasure of virtue, the ocean of peace; He pervades the water, the land and the sky. Servant Nanak has entered God’s Sanctuary; there is no other than Him. || 3 ||
My home is made, the garden and pool are made, and my Sovereign Lord God has met me. My mind is adorned, and my friends rejoice; I sing the songs of joy, and the Glorious Praises of the Lord. Singing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord God, all desires are fulfilled. Those who are attached to the Guru’s Feet are always awake and aware; His Praises resound and resonate through their minds. My Lord and Master, the bringer of peace, has blessed me with His Grace; He has arranged this world, and the world hereafter for me. Prays Nanak, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord forever; He is the Support of the body and soul. || 4 || 4 || 7 ||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਘਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ ਭਗਤ-ਜਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾ ਕੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਅਤਿ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਆ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਹੂਰਤ ਆ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਹਿੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਰੱਖੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹ ਨੀਂਹ ਰੱਖੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੱਕੜੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਤਾਕਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣ-ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਨੋ, ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਨੌਂ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਦਾਸ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਦਾ।੨।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੜਨ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੱਡਾ ਹੀ ਢਹਿ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤੇ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਬਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਧਰਮ ਪੂੰਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਧਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੁੱਤਿਆਂ ਬੈਠਿਆਂ ਖਲੋਤਿਆਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ, ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਹੀ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ।੩।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਪਰਸੇ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਸੋਹਣਾ, ਸੋਹਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਰੰਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ, ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਸਾਰੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਭਰਿਆ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਟਿਕਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੪।੭।
