ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥
salok mahalaa panjavaa ||
ਲਗੜੀ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਜੋੜਣਹਾਰੈ ਜੋੜੀਆ ॥
lagaRee suthaan joRanahaarai joReeaa ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਲਖ ਸੈ ਆਨ ਡੁਬਣ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੧॥
naanak laharee lakh sai aan dduban dhei na maa piree ||1||

ਬਨਿ ਭੀਹਾਵਲੈ ਹਿਕੁ ਸਾਥੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
ban bheehaavalai hik saathee ladham dhukh harataa har naamaa ||
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾਂ ॥੨॥
bal bal jaiee sa(n)t piaare naanak pooran kaamaa(n) ||2||

ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿਆ ॥
paieean sabh nidhaan terai ra(n)g ratiaa ||
ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਜਪਤਿਆ ॥
n hovee pachhotaau tudh no japatiaa ||
ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਜਨ ॥

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਮਨ ॥
gur poore vaahu vaahu sukh lahaa chitaar man ||
ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
gur peh sifat bha(n)ddaar karamee paieeaai ||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਧਾਈਐ ॥
satigur nadhar nihaal bahuR na dhaieeaai ||
ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਆਪਣੇ ॥
rakhai aap dhiaal kar dhaasaa aapane ||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣੇ ॥੭॥
har har har har naam jeevaa sun sune ||7||
English Translation
Shalok, Fifth Mehla:
I am attached to the right place; the Uniter has united me.
O Nanak, there are hundreds and thousands of waves, but my Husband Lord does not let me drown. ||1||
Fifth Mehla:
In the dreadful wilderness, I have found the one and only companion; the Name of the Lord is the Destroyer of distress.
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Beloved Saints, O Nanak; through them, my affairs have been brought to fulfillment. ||2||
Pauree:
All treasures are obtained, when we are attuned to Your Love.
One does not have to suffer regret and repentance, when he meditates on You.
No one can equal Your humble servant, who has Your Support.
Waaho! Waaho! How wonderful is the Perfect Guru! Cherishing Him in my mind, I obtain peace.
The treasure of the Lord's Praise comes from the Guru; by His Mercy, it is obtained.
When the True Guru bestows His Glance of Grace, one does not wander any more.
The Merciful Lord preserves him - He makes him His own slave.
Listening, hearing the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har, I live. ||7||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਸਲੋਕ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ) ਚੰਗੇ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੱਗ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਜੋੜਨਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਜੋੜੀ ਹੈ,
(ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਤੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ (ਭਾਵ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਲਹਿਰਾਂ (ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ) ਹਨ, ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਡੁੱਬਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ।੧।
ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
(ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰੂਪ ਇਸ) ਡਰਾਉਣੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਰੂਪ ਇਕੋ ਸਾਥੀ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ) ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੈ ।੨।
ਪਉੜੀ।
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ (ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ) ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਈਏ ਤਾਂ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ;
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲੇ) ਪਛੁਤਾਉਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ੇ (ਆਖ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ‘ਨਾਮ’) ਚਿਤਾਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ;
ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਟਕੀਦਾ ।
ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਜੀਊ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ।੭।
