ਵਡਹੰਸ ਕੀ ਵਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਲਲਾਂ ਬਹਲੀਮਾ ਕੀ ਧੁਨਿ ਗਾਵਣੀ
vaddaha(n)s kee vaar mahalaa chauthhaa lalaa(n) bahaleemaa kee dhun gaavanee
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaadh ||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥
salok mahalaa teejaa ||
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਵਡ ਹੰਸ ਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
sabadh rate vadd ha(n)s hai sach naam ur dhaar ||
ਸਚੁ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਹਿ ਸਦ ਸਚਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
sach sa(n)graheh sadh sach raheh sachai naam piaar ||
ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਨਦਰਿ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥
sadhaa niramal mail na lagiee nadhar keetee karataar ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਜੋ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਪਹਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੧॥

ਮੈ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਵਡ ਹੰਸੁ ਹੈ ਤਾ ਮੈ ਕੀਆ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
mai jaaniaa vadd ha(n)s hai taa mai keeaa sa(n)g ||
ਜੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਬਗੁ ਬਪੁੜਾ ਤ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਦੇਦੀ ਅੰਗੁ ॥੨॥
je jaanaa bag bapuRaa ta janam na dhedhee a(n)g ||2||

ਹੰਸਾ ਵੇਖਿ ਤਰੰਦਿਆ ਬਗਾਂ ਭਿ ਆਯਾ ਚਾਉ ॥

ਡੁਬਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਗ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਸਿਰੁ ਤਲਿ ਉਪਰਿ ਪਾਉ ॥੩॥

ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਆਪਿ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕੀਆ ॥
too aape hee aap aap hai aap kaaran keeaa ||
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਬੀਆ ॥
too aape aap nira(n)kaar hai ko avar na beeaa ||
ਤੂ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਹੈ ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਥੀਆ ॥
too karan kaaran samarath hai too kareh su theeaa ||
ਤੂ ਅਣਮੰਗਿਆ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਵਣਾ ਸਭਨਾਹਾ ਜੀਆ ॥
too anama(n)giaa dhaan dhevanaa sabhanaahaa jeeaa ||
ਸਭਿ ਆਖਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੀਆ ॥੧॥

English Translation
Vaar Of Wadahans, Fourth Mehla: To Be Sung In The Tune Of Lalaa-Behleemaa:
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
Shalok, Third Mehla:
The great swans are imbued with the Word of the Shabad; they enshrine the True Name within their hearts.
They gather Truth, remain always in Truth, and love the True Name.
They are always pure and immaculate - filth does not touch them; they are blessed with the Grace of the Creator Lord.
O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who, night and day, meditate on the Lord. ||1||
Third Mehla:
I thought that he was a great swan, so I associated with him.
If I had known that he was only a wretched heron from birth, I would not have touched him. ||2||
Third Mehla:
Seeing the swans swimming, the herons became envious.
But the poor herons drowned and died, and floated with their heads down, and their feet above. ||3||
Pauree:
You Yourself are Yourself, all by Yourself; You Yourself created the creation.
You Yourself are Yourself the Formless Lord; there is no other than You.
You are the all-powerful Cause of causes; what You do, comes to be.
You give gifts to all beings, without their asking.
Everyone proclaims, ""Waaho! Waaho! Blessed, blessed is the True Guru, who has given the supreme gift of the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਵਡਹੰਸ ਦੀ ਵਾਰ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਲਲਾ ਬਹਲੀਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਾਲ ਤੇ ਗਾਉਣੀ।
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਲੋਕ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋ ਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,
ਉਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਬਿਬੇਕੀ (ਸੰਤ) ਹਨ; ਉਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ (ਰੂਪ ਧਨ) ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੱਚ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ;
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ; (ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ) ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ ।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ।੧।
ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
ਮੈਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡਾ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਥ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ;
ਜੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਪਖੰਡੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਨਾਹ ਬੈਠਦੀ ।੨।
ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
ਹੰਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਗਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਚਾਅ ਕੁੱਦਿਆ,
ਪਰ ਬਗਲੇ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਸਿਰ-ਪਰਨੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਡੁੱਬ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਗਏ ।੩।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੀ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ,
ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ; ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਸਰੂਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ), ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਉਤਪੱਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈਂ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮੰਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਾਰੇ ਆਖਹੁ—ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਭੀ) ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਦਾਤਿ (ਅਸਾਡੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਅਸਾਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ) ।੧।
