ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਚੂਕੈ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
gurmukh chookai aavan jaan ||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਣੁ ॥
gurmukh dharageh paavai maan ||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਖਰੇ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥
gurmukh khoTe khare pachhaan ||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
gurmukh laagai sahaj dhiaan ||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
gurmukh dharageh sifat samai ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੰਧੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੪੧॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪਾਏ ॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥
gurmukh haumai sabadh jalaae ||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
gurmukh saache ke gun gaae ||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
gurmukh saachai rahai samaae ||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਇ ॥
gurmukh saach naam pat uootam hoi ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਗਲ ਭਵਣ ਕੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੪੨॥
naanak gurmukh sagal bhavan kee sojhee hoi ||42||
ਕਵਣ ਮੂਲੁ ਕਵਣ ਮਤਿ ਵੇਲਾ ॥
kavan mool kavan mat velaa ||
ਤੇਰਾ ਕਵਣੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਤੂ ਚੇਲਾ ॥
teraa kavan guroo jis kaa too chelaa ||
ਕਵਣ ਕਥਾ ਲੇ ਰਹਹੁ ਨਿਰਾਲੇ ॥
kavan kathaa le rahahu niraale ||
ਬੋਲੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਬਾਲੇ ॥
bolai naanak sunahu tum baale ||
ਏਸੁ ਕਥਾ ਕਾ ਦੇਇ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

ਭਵਜਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਲੰਘਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੪੩॥

ਪਵਨ ਅਰੰਭੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਤਿ ਵੇਲਾ ॥
pavan ara(n)bh satigur mat velaa ||
ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਚੇਲਾ ॥
sabadh guroo surat dhun chelaa ||
ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਲੇ ਰਹਉ ਨਿਰਾਲਾ ॥
akath kathaa le rahau niraalaa ||
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥
naanak jug jug gur gopaalaa ||
ਏਕੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਥਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
ek sabadh jit kathaa veechaaree ||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥੪੪॥

English Translation
RAAMKALEE, FIRST MEHL, SIDH GOSHT ~ CONVERSATIONS WITH THE SIDDHAS:
ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:
The comings and goings in reincarnation are ended for the Gurmukh. The Gurmukh is honored in the Court of the Lord. The Gurmukh distinguishes the true from the false. The Gurmukh focuses his meditation on the celestial Lord. In the Court of the Lord, the Gurmukh is absorbed in His Praises. O Nanak, the Gurmukh is not bound by bonds. || 41 ||
The Gurmukh obtains the Name of the Immaculate Lord. Through the Shabad, the Gurmukh burns away his ego. The Gurmukh sings the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. The Gurmukh remains absorbed in the True Lord. Through the True Name, the Gurmukh is honored and exalted. O Nanak, the Gurmukh understands all the worlds. || 42 ||
“What is the root, the source of all? What teachings hold for these times? Who is your guru? Whose disciple are you? What is that speech, by which you remain unattached? Listen to what we say, O Nanak, you little boy. Give us your opinion on what we have said. How can the Shabad carry us across the terrifying world-ocean?” || 43 ||
From the air came the beginning. This is the age of the True Guru’s Teachings. The Shabad is the Guru, upon whom I lovingly focus my consciousness; I am the chaylaa, the disciple. Speaking the Unspoken Speech, I remain unattached. O Nanak, throughout the ages, the Lord of the World is my Guru. I contemplate the sermon of the Shabad, the Word of the One God. The Gurmukh puts out the fire of egotism. || 44 ||
“With teeth of wax, how can one chew iron? What is that food, which takes away pride? How can one live in the palace, the home of snow, wearing robes of fire? Where is that cave, within which one may remain unshaken? Who should we know to be pervading here and there? What is that meditation, which leads the mind to be absorbed in itself?” || 45 ||
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ (Punjabi Explanation)
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਚੱਕਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਖੋਟੇ ਤੇ ਖਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੇਤੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਖੋਟੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ) ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖ (ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਕੋਈ ਰੋਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ।੪੧।
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਾੜ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ) । (ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ :)—(ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਕੀਹ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ? ਕੇਹੜੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈਣ ਦਾ (ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ) ਸਮਾ ਹੈ? ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਚੇਲਾ ਹੈਂ? ਕੇਹੜੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ—) ਹੇ ਬਾਲਕ (ਨਾਨਕ!) ਸੁਣ, (ਅਸਾਨੂੰ) ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦੱਸ (ਅਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਭੀ ਸਮਝਾ ਕਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ।੪੩।
(ਉੱਤਰ :) ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਹੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਹਨ । (ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ) ਸਮਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈਣ ਦਾ ਹੈ । ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਉ (ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ) ਸਿੱਖ ਹੈ । ਮੈਂ ਅਕੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ) ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ । ਤੇ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਗੁਰ-ਗੋਪਾਲ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ । ਕੇਵਲ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹਉਮੈ (ਖ਼ੁਦ-ਗਰਜ਼ੀ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।੪੪।
(ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ :) ਮੋਮ ਦੇ ਦੰਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਹਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਖਾਧਾ ਜਾਏ? ਉਹ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨ ਦਾ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ? ਜੇ ਬਰਫ਼ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਚੋਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਗੁਫ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੀਏ ਕਿ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੇ? ਇਥੇ ਉਥੇ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਮਨ) ਲੀਨ ਰਹੇ? ਉਹ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਟਿਕਵਾਂ ਬੱਝਵਾਂ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੇ (ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਾਹ ਭਟਕੇ)?।੪੫।
